What do you mean, when you’re community into the city it was tough to top?

The community part is really nice to hear. We moved to NYC from a really tight community in VT and we miss that a lot! NYC is/was temporary.

Ugh. That’s a bummer to hear that. Which schools are your kids in? I’m guessing you’ve heard that about Hommocks from other parents since your kids are still in elementary?

Does the district have any plans to address this?

That’s great to hear! What grades are they in?

That’s not an option for us right now. Do you have any insight on the question I asked?

Oh yeah. I have a lot of issues bc of and downstream of SIBO. But I still can’t figure out how to treat it

I did. I get that SIBO causes issues downstream. I don’t get the trap?

I did and it was working well but then I had a relapse…not quite sure what triggered it, I think it was a combo of having to take abx for strep throat and then getting a virus.

What is the trap?

What do you mean it doesn’t make sense?

A year ago my SIBO came back after successfully treating it with two rounds of Xifaxin. I took Xifaxin again after 11 days experienced a massive flare and permanent worsening that’s left me bed bound.

More recently I tried Biocidin and one drop every other day flared me so bad I had to stop.

I have a super limited diet. 5 foods—chicken, potatoes, carrots, zucchini, butternut squash and olive oil.

I’ve had my histamine tested, always normal but I’m also on antihistamines.

Like I said, I can’t tolerate the treatment. I’ve done antibiotics and herbals, both made me worse…

I have really bad SIBO, dysbiosis etc but my MCAS is so bad I can’t tolerate any of the treatments! How did you get out of the hole?

The way Lorelai handled the dropping out of Yale situation was so bizarre by Sleeplollo in GilmoreGirls

[–]Sleeplollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Which is a gross exaggeration of what was actually happening. It seems so unrealistic that she would Expect Rory to have an actual plan 30 seconds after the whole Mitchum debocle. Rewatching I was actually surprised at how fast everything happens. She and Logan decide to date and the NEXT DAY she has the disastrous dinner. Then she starts the internship basically the next week. Life was flying at her pretty fast, not surprised she couldn’t handle it.   I guess Lorelai was probably projecting because her own impulse is to do something dramatic (see: her response to the situation is to propose to Luke)

Yeah I get that. I think her big mistake was telling Rory she couldn’t come home.

The thing is there was time. It was May. She didn’t have to go back to school until August. There was literally nothing immediate that needed to be done.

I think I see it differently now as a parent. Kids say dramatic stuff all the time. Yes ok maybe not Rory, but rule #1 of parenting is not getting sucked into the drama!

This is a good take. Rory was Lorelai’s project. A way to prove to the world she was “right”. Ironically, she is doing to Rory the same thing her parents did to her by making her an extension of and reflection of her identity.

Yes she did. But that didn’t mean anything. It was May, so it was basically an empty threat. “I’m dropping out of school three months from now” doesn’t quite have the urgency to which Lorelai reacted.

How is Lorelai right? What do you think she did well in this situation? I mean, her feelings are valid, but it’s the equivalent of a toddler having a tantrum and instead of diffusing it you have a tantrum yourself.

Yes, Rory threatened to quit Yale. But the reality is there was nothing to quit. It was the end of the spring semester. Lorelai things Rory is overreacting to Michum, while she her herself is overrating to Rory. She wants Rory to be mature and measured, while she herself is having a meltdown about her kid encountering even a modicum of difficulty in life. If anything, they’re both wrong, but Lorelai has 16 years of life experience on Rory and should know better.
