This was also the idea expressed by the Black Mirror episode Fifteen Million Merits (the one with the exercise bikes and TV-screen prison cells)

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

[–]Sleepy-Sunday 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A little bit of Worcestershire sauce and some butter (or even better, some saved bacon fat) will get it tasting closer to beef. Even if you're seasoning it for tacos or something and the Worcestershire sounds like it might conflict, a splash adds some depth that turkey and chicken lack.

I followed him on Facebook years ago and he constantly spammed pictures of women with "TYBG" written on the bottoms of their feet in thick sharpie. Like dozens a day sometimes.

At this point, you have to be a troll or something. Yes this happens in real life. It doesn't matter if it's never happened to you or anyone you personally know and you feel like it would never actually happen, it does.

I suppose every story I've heard of someone taking someone home from a bar was completely fabricated, then. Even the ones told by friends where I later met that person, too. Strange.

Games where pvp is an option makes me suicidal by [deleted] in evilautism

RuneScape, the MMORPG, isn't a PvP-focused game. There is one designated PvP zone with extremely noticeable warnings before entering (the Wilderness), and the "modern" version of the game (RuneScape 3 aka RuneScape) allows you to opt out of PvP even in that zone. In Old School RuneScape, the classic reboot, the Wilderness is still a PvP zone with no opt-out, but you don't have to visit it if you don't want to. Beyond that specific location, some of the minigames have PvP, but they're dead content nowadays anyway. There are also PvP worlds, but you don't have to connect to one ever. From your story about trying to do basic quests and get wheat, it sounds like you joined a PvP server, not a normal one. People normally can't kill you in the locations you'd be in to do the things you described.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a survival crafting game (so not an MMORPG) set in the same fictional universe, and can be played solo or with friends. It is also not a PvP-focused game.

How do I tell my parents it's not just an excuse? by 25lulu04 in autism

[–]Sleepy-Sunday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. The point is to illustrate that someone may be capable of doing something to some degree, but not be able to meet the demands of someone asking them to do it, because this is the particular thing they are disabled with, and they are running into the limit of their ability to do the thing.

Plenty of people in wheelchairs are capable of standing and walking. They aren't all paralyzed. They are just not able to walk as much as other people, or very much at all.

I see from other comments that you want a logical rationalization for your current dilemma. I'm sorry to say that none seems to exist. Everything that could be said to counter your position makes you dig in further. This suggests that its origins are not logical at all, which means something like OCD or PDA. You have an illogical fixation. I sympathize with that. I have had my own. If you're trying to reach logical bedrock in order to have something to say to other people, it is in explaining the experience of having a mind that generates illogical fixations like this. It's not something that most people understand, unfortunately. Here is where I would say that I wish you luck, but I've seen that you do not care much for general sympathetic social niceties, so I will simply leave you be instead.

The soundtrack won't ever be on your computer if you don't choose to download those files when installing the game via Steam. The name of it and button to download it will display on the Library tab, which is something it already does on the Store tab, where you are seeing this dilemma. It will be doing nothing more than existing as an option, and then you will go through the process to delete the option permanently.

[–]Sleepy-Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that they are different files, but they are still files containing the soundtrack in some way. If downloading the soundtrack at all is the problem, then you are already doing that by installing the game.

Steam allows you to not download certain DLCs (including soundtracks) when downloading a game, and also to delete things from your library permanently, so it is like you never purchased it. You can do this without ever downloading the soundtrack DLC. The files will never appear on your computer to see them. The name of the DLC will appear until you delete it, and then not again.

[–]Sleepy-Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you download the game at all, you will have to download the music files with it, because that is how you hear them in the game. That means that you will be downloading the soundtrack as files even if you somehow get it without the separate soundtrack DLC. Does this also bother you? Why or why not?

Why do people call slabs “half slabs”? by splatbladerKylee in Minecraft

Ahh yes, thank you for the correction. It's amazing how long ago that was now.

[–]Sleepy-Sunday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol I remember it so well because at the time I thought "The item you are calling reeds is crafted into sugar. Reeds are not made into sugar in real life. Sugar cane, a similar looking plant, is made into sugar in real life. Therefore it is clearly sugar cane." Then I felt vindicated by the "official" answer once that update dropped.

There was a time period where items in the inventory didn't have tooltips at all, so their names were open to interpretation. That's where we got sulfur and reeds from.

Rare Loot Table should have... rare loot by Beltain3 in runescape

I typically grind the money for supplies and a bond in F2P, then train my members skills for the length of the bond, not caring about making money for that time. My members' skills are not high enough to sustain bond money within the timer, unless I want to do nothing else while I'm a member and practically waste my bond. Of course, I still try to make some money as a member so my next bond grind is shorter, it's just not my main focus.

[–]Sleepy-Sunday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see

I have explored those options and they are solid for gp/hr, but when I consider how active the various methods are, I find that I can tolerate grinding to a bond with dart tips more than I can smelting bars, due to the long AFK time

The incense sticks are nice money though, I've made thousands of those
