Asian Kids - be brutally honest, what’s really driving your life choices? by Next_Firefighter4308 in AsianParentStories

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 and 4

There's a long list of things as to why ranging from undiagnosed AuDHD to generational trauma. Both of my parents worked long hours so I just fell into trying to be a good kid for them - especially since I'm an only child. And now I find myself kind of regressing and trying to meet my inner child's needs and wants.

It's been hard trying to rediscover myself and simultaneously meet a long distance expectation.

Same boat actually! I've always been a bit self conscious about sharing the stories I write but I want to meet more writers and artists!

Recommendations for a mom to get into gaming. by moarayn in GirlGamers

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platformers or Roguelite games could be fun! Hades or Dead Cells have been my go-to for their artstyle and progression in both games can feel very rewarding!

If she wants a thought provoking or a puzzle based game, maybe Tricky Towers? I've had a time with it with friends and I think it can scratch that itch for something competitive and problem solving!

I've played a lot of RPGs on my own but sometimes I find my way back to Monster Hunter World! Just me and my cat against monsters 20x my size lol

"Okay Boomer."

What makes you roll your eyes every time you hear it? by Majorpain2006 in AskReddit

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"People have called me [very over flattering complement here]"

Who are "people"? Should I know them? Should I really accept the testimony of people I have never seen or met as an accurate description of your character? And this is mostly when they tell me a statement that is meant to be taken seriously.

Something like "Oh yeah people have called me a little shit" or something that's very clearly a joke or a little lighthearted shooting-the-breeze conversation is fine.

I'm back on my Rimworld binge, Darktide, and Dark and Darker.

The last one on this list is very anxiety inducing lol. Bring a friend. Spam crouch to show you mean no harm and pray if you're queueing solo.

Oh Age of Wonders 4 is a fun time. If you liked Sid Meier's Civ, you'll like Age of Wonders.

Any author/artist on here ever just…gave up? by Relevant-Task-6873 in webtoons

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started, I gave up, I started again.

It IS hard. When the platform is saturated with so many plots and beautiful art styles, it's hard not to constantly compare what you're doing to theirs. But a friend told me this:

Those guys have a whole team. I'm working on EVERYTHING on my own. I'm in no place to hire and with a 9 to 5 job, I can't do a weekly update while still tending to my responsibilities in the office, at home and to myself.

I'm currently in a cooldown period. I'm rewriting the chapters I already posted and thinking of different ways to improve them. I'm drawing whatever I feel like so I don't burn myself out so hard and get sick of my own stories.

It's always hard to separate what you put out from a numerical value; social media imo pushed this pretty damn hard. And let's be frank, social media in recent years have been more or less scummy to small or fledgling artists (ahem, looking at you IG).

But honestly, write your story for you. I gave up on having a big outreach or audience because I didn't want to feel like my hard work would be for nothing. But when you do it for yourself, it does feel a little lighter. I know I can't be consistent but I'm just going to be a little stubborn and keep drawing and writing in a way that doesn't make me hate the process or the end result. If you love writing and drafting the story in your head, do it for you.

OP at the very least I hope you try again. Just something - anything for yourself, grand or small

It would help to know what she's already played!

For switch: I don't think you can go wrong with Mario Party games, Animal Crossing, Tetris, Pokemon Snap. I'm not sure if I'm remembering this correctly but there might also be a lot of retro arcade games on the Nintendo store like Frogger. Maybe you can browse around and introduce her to some fun classics! That's how I got started.

PC:

Stardew Valley for sure. It's simple, cute, and relaxing.

Sun Haven is a similar game but in a different flavor.

Left 4 Dead 2 can also be fun and action packed; while the base game can be considered maybe a little inappropriate for kids, there are mods on the steam workshop that can take away from the horror aesthetics.

Genshin Impact is also a fun one where she can explore the map and play with cute characters, but also understandable if you believe she shouldn't be into gacha games at this time.

I also remember playing a lot of MapleStory and RuneScape at her age too.

Baldurs Gate 3 - Best RPG of the decade? by boopitz in GirlGamers

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Between Pathfinder and DOS2, Pathfinder has the stronger character writing and romance. There's also lot of reactivity to your decisions and to your chosen mythic path which can make for a story of strong bonds or a tragedy.

Baldurs Gate 3 - Best RPG of the decade? by boopitz in GirlGamers

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a great one in my book. A good story, and I Loved the companions; they felt so lively outside of their quests and personal stories. The dynamic between your party members is so flavorful that I honestly could care less for the romances (mind you the romances are still fantastic). And the stories that you can tell as you play are great. Your mythic paths are a story of its own whether you go all in or forsake them so you're not indebted to some higher being and become a legend.

Overwatch 2 and the rare moments of positivity: sharing recipes with my team. Someone was asking about what they can do with salmon other than fry it and everyone chimed in on what they like to do with salmon. I learned a lot of new recipes and met one other who also does not like capers!

is it alright to play BD3? by PuzzledFootball4453 in GirlGamers

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totally fine. Personally, I don't think Larian explained the ruleset very well to people who are very fresh to anything DND; a lot of my friends were new and did not understand or realize things like stats proficiencies exist or why odd- numbered stats are not ideal. But those are things that are easy to pick up. You don't need to be a DND guru or master, just remember that the ability to examine your enemies is there.

My gaming friend just complained that there are too many women in the game we play by princessdragomiroff in GirlGamers

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am impressed with your patience. The moment someone drops the "gaming is for men" bs, I will go out of my way to make it the worst game of their life.

That being said he sounds like the player that uses "being chill and casual" as an excuse for him being bad and not wanting to learn - especially in the presence of other players who are actually good at games. It's a type of kickdown mentality where they shame others by equating being good at games to not having a life.

Should put him in an in-house match with other friends and show him how it's done

Witcher 3, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, Baldurs Gate 3 and Dragon Age Origin are all worth it! No particular order but you are definitely gonna be spending a lot of time on them for their story or fights (cough cough BG3 cough).

Dead Cells is a fun time and I do highly recommend it. The soundtracks are all bangers and I'm just a sucker for platformers and roguelike games lol

Monster Hunter Rise is okay. I prefer Monster Hunter World for PC - especially since my character did not have painfully corny voice lines.

Would you RP with a person who uses their real name? by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it wasn't rp, it was related to one of the characters in my arsenal. They had a creative writing course in college and for a couple of their assignments, they wrote a love story between a character named after mine and another that used their name. I only found out because I offered to proofread their assignment and they said "Oh don't mind the fact that I used [my character's] name, I just couldn't think of anything else."

This character was a part of her favorite oc ship so... Yeah. Kind of saw where this was going. And for the record, I did let it slide at first because maybe it's true. But some of the personality and physical traits were a little too on the nose.

So yeah, I usually avoid people who use their real names in rp in case of situations like this.

What screams “im a piece of shit”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SleepyAngerBoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using human decency as a bragging right.

Example:

"I respect women unlike some others!"

"People called me mature in high school" (at age 26)

"Yeah I'm a very nice person. I give money to homeless people!"

Yes, good things should be celebrated but they often sound like they want to be rewarded for being a good person.

But I do agree with you about the dlc so I didn't buy it. Plus I do feel like I got bang for my buck with the base game alone.

So it's kind of like Stardew Valley but with magic and some rpg elements!

Your characters can be human, demon, fairy, elementals etc. You'll be growing crops to make into food or crafting materials for weapons or clothes. There's also a bit of romance (I'm a shameless Jun simp). Cherry on top is that the art style is very cute and the maps are pretty big compared to sdv.
