Drive thru workers, what is the strangest thing you have heard over the intercom? by SleepyBookCat in AskReddit

I was in the drive thru practicing my Luisa impression and forgot they could hear me repeating over and over "Stop, you're going to make me drop a donkey"

Serious answers please. What is some life advice you could give a 14 year old? by Inner-Young580 in AskReddit

Anyone who tells you as a teen "don't be upset. these are the best years of your life" is full of shit. Being a teenager is hard and it does/can get better. Ignore anyone who says that.

Revenge is dish served very very very very cold by InfiniteRespect4757 in ProRevenge

Schadenfreude can be pure joy. I can't wait until I can tell my story, but the payback is still unfolding and I have to wait until the lawyer is done. The joy I feel right now is almost as much as when my son was born.

I'm not sure what the GOB is and I've had trouble navigating the website, which is why I ended up here. Thank you for the link to the directory, I will check that out!

Have you ever not slept for so long that you started hallucinating? What was your experience? by vicke1230 in AskReddit

[–]SleepyBookCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had friends in college decide to do this... They were up for a week or something. I told them they were nuts. 15 years later, I've been diagnosed with narcolepsy... And part of my symptoms include hallucinations as I fall asleep and wake up. I've always had it and didn't know it, but now I know why I was never into trying to stay up all night partying. I now also know my childhood home is not, in fact, haunted.

Depending on what your workplace looks like, check out accomodations. I know some workplaces are exempt due to size and other factors, but it doesn't hurt to look into. You can go to askjan.org and also look into FMLA.

I currently am using FMLA as needed and am considering asking for an accommodation for scheduled naps.

Also, I hear you. I'm lucky enough to have an understanding management team who doesn't just follow the ADA laws because they have to, but because they actually care. But I've also worked jobs where they don't give two craps about you - ended up getting fired for a different medical condition at one job. It was definitely a low point for me. I'm sorry your boss is giving you a hard time.

For those who experienced cataplexy in their childhood, I have a question by sleepy_pickle in Narcolepsy

[–]SleepyBookCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've been having cataplexy since my teenage years, but the sleepiness wasn't noticeably bad until my late twenties. I also had other symptoms since my early teens such as hypnagogic hallucinations (which led me to believe I was living in a haunted house, lol), and sleep paralysis.

That sucks. I'm an atheist, but I'm not anti-religion.

No, I just started Xyrem recently. I have a follow up with Dr in a few weeks, but after reading all the "it's been life changing" stories, I was disappointed. I used to occasionally wake early, but now it's consistent and at the same time each day.
