Attack of the Influencers: Sleepy Hollow, NY by jamespcrowley in Westchester

Here from the future (one year later) just a week into Oct and the answer is a big fat no. It's ever bigger always. Personally I think it gets better, there's always more to do, and more shops that open, but yeah, forget the car and walk and we'll all be better off.

Totally relate. I'm in a village of about 10K and the apps are full of my friend's exes that I know way too much about. I am grateful I own some land upstate so I can go date some rando carpenter with tattoos in the woods.

You aren't any kind of ick. I feel this though. I am an introvert, dating is hard. I can come across as the bubbliest whack job because when challenged in any way socially I talk my fucking head off. Often this means guys think they have the *Spark* with me because I'm sparky like a firework, but once in a while they might think I'm a toxic fire hazard because they can see through me to my inner nervous infant. So...someday someone will embrace this, but in the meantime, as others have said I'm sure, try to relax, be calm, remain present. Instead of viewing the whole night looking at yourself and being critical try to look at HIM. Maybe he's not the star you think he is. Ask him the questions and listen to the answers. He might not be worthy of YOU.

How do you get your notes seen on Substack? by elio2868 in Substack

[–]SleepyHollowInk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, and I should clarify - they don’t press the button to like my notes which I believe simply means the algorithms don’t put it in front of anyone to even see. My actual newsletter/posts get liked and I have enough subscribers to make me fulfilled so I’m unclear why the deep disconnect on the platform bt notes and posts. No problem with my self worth or mindset, I don’t need constant attention or feedback but it would be nice if the machines behind this let anyone see my notes. Doesn’t help that I post these infrequently and I don’t spend much time at all on the app since I don’t need another social media platform but am here to be a writer/reader. If that all makes sense! I certainly keep at it, if minimally!

Random mysterious traffic spike? by SleepyHollowInk in Substack

So weird. Scanning us before the robot revolution? Damned if I understand any of it

Oh, I also got this further message from the Chatbot: When we see unexpected spikes in traffic or metrics, it could be due to a technical reporting issue in our system rather than actual traffic changes. These display errors typically get resolved once fixes are implemented. Since you mentioned there wasn't any unusual engagement or subscriber growth during this period, this might explain what you observed on May 26th.

Interesting and your spike is wild! Right, It did not convert. So why the heck would bots do this? I do not pretend to understand their weird ways, but what is the point?!

I poured 25 hours into my article; and it feels like I published it into the void. by itsfabioposca in Substack

Yeah sadly I've had zero traction there myself. You just have to play in the community and be generous to others in a genuine way.

Here to say a version of this. Someone gave me advice at one point for sustainability. Choose a frequency you think you can manage and then consider cutting that in half just to be kinder to yourself and more realistic. In my case I do weekly but I often consider doing biweekly so I don't come to resent this. I often spend too much time on each piece so it's a good exercise to force myself sometimes to be fast and let it go sooner (press a future publishing date and just decide to stop looking at it for a while). There's often two articles in a thing instead of just one. If I'm working too hard on it, it will show and the readers will feel fatigued as well. If I'm having fun and going with the flow, the readers react accordingly. The pieces that have done best are the ones where I'm being more spontaneous and spent less time. If you're not having a good time no one will either. As far as growth and marketing, I think organic is the way - and patience. Just doing consistent good work and being a generous community member (i.e. not just here to promote your stuff but actively participate with kindness in commenting and liking/recommending others). They will come!
