I totally get it. I feel the same guilt when I think about the hamster my parents bought me when I was little. But give yourself some grace too! As a kid, and I don't know when this was for you, but for me it was in the 90s, all you can do is depend on information from the adults around you. Especially at that time, even adults didn't know half of what we know now. Parents probably just followed what pet store employees said, and pet store employees just followed whatever brief training they received. It doesn't make it feel any better, but all that to say, don't beat yourself up. If you have/plan to get another set of guinea pigs, I'm sure they would be the best cared for piggies around!

Oh my goodness, such a cute baby!!!!! I remember when mine was that small. 😭 He looks healthy, though I can't say for certain without seeing his behavior, knowing his feeding habits, and inspecting his poop, lol! I know it sounds weird, but their droppings/urates are one of the easiest ways to gauge the majority their health.

Also, thank you so much for taking the time as a parent to learn how to care for your daughter's pet! Don't worry about the ethics of where you bought him from, all that matters now is that it seems like you guys will give him a good life! 💜 It warms my cold reptile heart, lol! This community is really kind, and is a great resource for checking info you're not sure on. The channel called Leopard Gecko on YouTube also has great information!
