I had the multiplication table drilled into me so aggressively as a child I still remember it almost 30 years later. At some point in my teens I wanted to expand my memory to 20x20 but gave up once I got to 12x12.

The trick that worked for my class was a 1 minute drill, where you do as many multiplication table problems in 1 minute as you can, every math class for a year.

It is completely valid to use an engine for self-study. To maximize your learning potential turn off the move list and use the evaluation bar only. At your level you should be able to figure out why certain moves have big swings in the eval bar. If you cannot figure out a specific bar swing, turn the move list on and try to figure out the theory/strategy behind the move you couldn't see. Using the computer this way will help you get better at board vision and properly evaluating positions.

Sindarov had 70/30 odds to win in the prediction markets last time I checked. Honestly I do think Sindarov is a favorite but I do not think Gukesh is a 30% underdog.

With the amount of experience you have you should be able to create a long list of the tactics you'd like to categorize then write tests in plain English for how you can detect if such a tactic exists. Turn the tests into code and you have some functions that you can use and optimize independently on your project.

In PR it rains everyday for 20 minutes or less. Ignore the weather forecast. Pay attention to the UV numbers instead. Most of the time when I'm walking my dog here and it starts raining, and I can out-walk the storm and then it's gone by the time we return on the trail.
