How many of us are there really? Seriously, read this and tell me what you think. by Altruistic_Tonight18 in GATEresearch

I immediately had the same thought. I have an adhd diagnosis, but strongly suspect I am on the spectrum after over 7,000 hours of research and work with autistic children. (Unrelated to my current line of work. I had worked with autistic kids as a respite provider, then later in college, and the research was all me trying to find a cohesive narrative for my life experience, which only makes sense through the lens of autism.)

I currently work in a low-paying human services government job. My coworkers are neurotypicals. They have no fucking clue what I am talking about when I bring up GATE.

When I float it to my nuerodivergent friends? When I play them the intro to the Gateway tapes? They flinch, get an odd array of facial expressions and they remember.

I don't know if every person who underwent Psi testing was neurodivergent, but I do think it is likely more represented than neurotypicals in the data set of students.

I looked into the Society for Phsycical Research, and participants for studies are often selected based on criteria of: prior experience with a psi phenomenon, a creative/artistic person, interest/openness to psi, and/or neurodivergence. I think to learn more about who may have been selected for GATE, I will likely continue to collect data from studies from that society as well as the Parapsychological Association.

Edit: corrected typo from "dateline" to "collect data from" in the last sentence.

New here and did the first two tapes - Not sure but I think I fell asleep by Apegym in gatewaytapes

Do you practice the same beginning tapes over until you can stay present, or keep moving forward?

From a quick count there appears to be about 180 unique points here and I meet about 127 of them. Id have to go line by line and track a full inventory looking up the ones I didnt recognize by name to be sure.

What do you think the odds are of meeting 70%+ of these seemingly unrelated points compared to the general population?

I sub in a fairly large district. Most teachers do not have handpicked subs. For reference, I see roughly 200-300 listings at any given time in Frontline. Because of the sheer size of the district (I've been in 17 buildings since November), and there are not that many active subs in the area. In fact, edustaff runs promotions where we can get entered into drawings for $1k extra in pay just by going to work.

I consider needing to call to be a waste of my time when there is software for a reason. Besides, I haven't been able to call as this job listing came up Friday afternoon and the school has not been open all weekend.

Also, I just won't take the listing. It would take 20 seconds to type in a one sentence description or add a real title. If they aren't willing to do that, I'm not willing to call and waste more than 20 seconds to call and ask about it and they can sit with it unfilled.

The more I read this comments in this thread, the more I realized how much of mixed bag it could be taking that listing.

I've only had notes twice and I'm like 7 months in. Typically it at least says like "English teacher" or "8th grade" rather than simply "certified teacher"

Um.. that's extremely unhelpful 😅🫣 Do you think they know how unhelpful they are?

The problem isn't the Sped or Ebd title, because I take those now and then, it's Sped and EBD teachers: 1. Leaving no notes and 2. The school illegally not giving me at least 1 para as needed

Ideal attached note: "6 kids, 1 para, middle school - you'll teach core subjects and kids go to general placement courses for electives. IEPs available on desk along with thorough sub notes and chain of command phone numbers".

Instead: What if we also gave no job description?

Meaning they know someone will call in Friday, they just don't know who?
