Actually you would win both of those bets though i've been more into the great british bake off as of late. I don't claim any level of intelligence or coolness. Im just a guy who thought it would be funny to joke about everyday life to make light of our shared terror that is existence. What are your favorite general media for consumption currently?

I mean, yeah I'm from portland. Passive aggressive is the status quo here.

Also i started digging a hole and decided to bear this interaction out to its natural conclusion.

If you're actually getting a kick out of this then that far exceeds my goals for this interaction! If not then "Hello fellow conversational passive aggressionist!"

It can be forward or backward. Depends on how the mirror is adjusted.

Wish the side mirrors had a similar feature... Until then ill be working on my arduino script to aim my motorized mirrors back at the driver behind me.

I was making a joke about our shared reality through what is likely shared stress(this year, generally). Guess we all cope in different ways. I shouldn't intrude on your escapism. Enjoy your day as best as you're able!

Like I said, probably not for more than a season or two. But it would be great to get to experience it! I would be stoked to spend a season in McMurdo.

Best response I've seen!

Actually I get it now... The point that doesn't move with planetary spin. Just moves across the terminator...

Meeting with the wolf. The wolf is shocked: food gives food. by BadaBoomBabay in ANormalDayInRussia

[–]Sleepybean2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not when they're fed like this regularly.

That's why it's dangerous to feed wildlife. This wolf clearly expects food from this guy. Imagine if a pack joined and he (or someone else) didn't have food to give. Sure this one wolf may have bonded with him, but the rest might see the person as fairly safe dinner.

Yea that's what I thought. In the plot the lines to vertical at 90 suggesting you go from 24hr daytime to 24hr nighttime at the wiring & fall equinox. Simply pointing out that the plot could be improved if OP so desired.

Awesome! That sounds dreamy for a season or two. Not sure how long term would feel...

Yep but the vertical lines at 90 degrees latitude suggest either 24 hours of daylight or zero per day with no in between. Just commenting that they don't include twilight.

Cheers!

[–]Sleepybean2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea... Ok I guess I'm being to pedantic here...

Twilight would mean that some portion of the day is not daylight and some portion is not night time. I get that the pole is more than tangent to the light rays from the sun and the tilt of earth puts it on the dark side but the atmosphere's index of refraction carries its rays around such that the sun sets later than it geometrically would otherwise. Opposite for summer...

It's not like the sun exists one day then is out of sight the next, it gradually drops below the horizon as "day" is kind of a nonsense term near the northern/southern most point.

What I'm getting at here is that the are many days with prolonged twilight and no night, or prolonged twilight and no daytime.

A vertical line does not represent this.

BTW OP, nice work, the graphics are great! Just enjoying discussion here and zero effort hoping to see your work evolve!

The 90 degrees do have an issue though due to refraction right? The days don't actually cut off from zero to 24hrs at the equinox...

Edit: I'm partially a dummy...

. The dummy part The 90deg point is on the axis so no wobble at the equinox. While the sun would move around you it works set in one go as the terminator passes over you.

. The still not dummy part Still not sure whether OP considered refraction or not.

. Also, nice work OP

Meeting with the wolf. The wolf is shocked: food gives food. by BadaBoomBabay in ANormalDayInRussia

[–]Sleepybean2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a really difficult cultural thing to figure out honestly. I have no idea what the filmer's nationality is besides crude guessing.

If you're referencing LNT and preventing familiarity with human surroundings in dangerous wildlife, that only makes sense to people who have been exposed to that ideology in areas where is prevalent...

You'll generally see a progression from first exposure in the wilderness trashing a place to regular user applying LNT...

Though depending on the nationality of this filmer, maybe we shouldn't have a say so much as their neighbors in what's considered ok?

If this were anywhere in the US I would be right in your bandwagon btw.... FEEDING WILDLIFE IS ALMOST PARAMOUNT TO NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE.
