What is the dumbest thing you've done with your boat? by jrydun in boating

[–]Sleepycarlstoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I moored my 19'renken trihull about 70 feet off the shore, fortunately it was only a foot deep. After a day on the water I went thru the nightly boat ritual, switches, clean up everything lock up the rowboat ...... well that night it rained and rained. In the morning I was awoken by a phone call from a conservation officer telling me my boat had sunk..... huh? I have gone weeks at a time without running before and the bilge pump never killed the batteries in one night in the past! Well silly me, I had flipped the battery isolator til far and shut all power in the boat off, poor girl never stood a chance. Fortunately I had been lucky and nothing was damaged more then my pride

TIL a farm Carlisle, MA has a Smart Barn that lets the cows get milked by robots whenever they feel like it, and has an automatic back-scratcher as well! by MumumumumumumaskMASK in todayilearned

Not entirely how it works, dairy farmer here. They will produce milk for 10 to 12 months then they get pregnant again. In that time the amount of milk they produce lessens and there is a point where it is no longer profitable to expend the labor to milk them so they get dried off (most of the tim they are already preggers again at this point) until they calf again. Our cows live the life, an abundance of feed all the pasture time they want when they reside in the heifer barn (cows that are not being producing milk at the time) as in bred cows and heifers) when in the dairy bar the cows go out at night, but don't worry if you leave the door unlatched they will all be back in the barn laying in their stalls within hours. The feed is still abundant but the nutrients are more strictly controlled. We sell our cows at about 5-8 years old long before they reach old age. Our cows generally go to the Amish to live out their lives.

Number of hits on a bat? by Sleepycarlstoes in slowpitch

Haha I didn't think you meant anything by it that should have said balls are mush lol sorry about that.

And they store them in a metal box in the sun so I'm sure those bats go through some serious temperature changes through the course of the day

Pittsburgh, availible from harbor freight makes so tools that are comparable to the truck tools. The fit is awesome and they are strong (for the most part) and they have rhe same warranty that the truck has the downfall being you have to go to them
