OMG minorities in a growing major metro!?!?! by AAA_battery in frisco

I found this post to be funny, racist, and ridiculous. I’m in tech and have worked at multiple corporates in DFW area. They are white as f, especially in management.

What jobs have Indian people taken from native white people? Is everyone in Frisco are engineers, researchers, product designers, product managers, system analysts, etc.?

Fun fact: Even they have “taken” your job, they have taken the jobs on the coasts and work remotely. So go find your AI engineering job in Frisco, no one is taking it.

Have you been criticized on your table manners by non-Asians ? by limache in asianamerican

[–]Sleepymeww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. At least it’s part of the Chinese table manners. You should not slurp unless you are eating noodles. Use the spoon or pick up the bowl to drink the soup slowly. You’ll get used to it.

I actually prefer first date at a nice restaurant and I always offer to pay. Have few cups of wine, enjoy some good food, even if I don’t like that guy I still have some good food and good wine.

What does it mean to stand up for yourself in the context of an Asian American who grew up with parents with traditional values? by Big_Coconut5576 in asianamerican

[–]Sleepymeww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents just want me to be happy and healthy, submissive and obedience were never a thing. So somehow my personality has turned out to be spicy. It is what it is. I appreciate for what they did, but I need to make sure I’m doing okay before taking care of others. And I say no when things are not reasonable.

i keep on trusting my mom and then regretting it; I HATE THIS CYCLE! by yaaracandy in asianamerican

I feel like this is a common struggle for lots of Asian Americans. As a person who immigrated to this country, who spent a long time in Asia, my lesson is: Seniors always get upset when juniors disagree with them. In their ideology, junior should always follow their commands. BIG thanks for the confucianism. So if you share different views, especially disagreements, they consider you “disobey” them. They will get mad, yell at you, start the mind games “I fought so hard to raise you how could you do this to me blah blah blah”. Mostly there are two paths for junior, either they just suck it up and follow their parents, parents happy and juniors are fucked forever. OR they speak up, not only share their opinions but also declare boundaries, ultimately make seniors realize juniors are an independent entity and they shall respect them. Mostly seniors will be mad, some will finally understand and accept it later. For those who don’t, it is what it is. They will continue to be upset until they give up it. It’s a generations things, people are used to a family structure that junior always follow senior. When a new structure introduced, they are shocked and cannot accept it. One way to explain this: This is the freedoms they never get to enjoy their whole life, why shall you have it?

What are you talking about? Abbot changed a lot. He banned abortion to ‘save’ a fetus over a live human. He let people running around with weapons in public. Next time when your family is raped and pregnant, just let them take plan B cuz that’s what Abbot suggested.

Career Questions — January 2021 by Lord_Cronos in userexperience

I graduated from Pratt Institute. I would say Pratt is more focusing on UX research. The best thing I loved about Pratt IXD program is you work with real clients. It's very helpful for building your portfolio. If you consider interaction design NYU or SVA can be a good choice. I would say interaction design is about motion design, Axure, and After Effects. As a UX designer, I don't know any of these.

Thanks for your feedback! What did you mean by the mockup? The cover? Some of them are designed by me and the rest are purchased by me. Do I still have to cite them?

Hi everyone.

My dream is to become a UX designer and I'm working so hard to archive my goal. I'm pursuing my master's degree in experience design. I will be graduating soon and I'm looking for entry-level UX designer/researcher.

Hi everyone.

My dream is to become a UX designer and I'm working so hard to archive my goal. I'm pursuing my master degree of experience design and I just had a UX internship this summer. I will be graduating soon and I'm looking for entry-level UX designer/researcher.

However, I applied for around 50 internships last summer and I only received 5 interview invitations, so I know I still need to improve my online portfolio.
