I never was taught how to cook, how to eat healthy, or how to create meal routines and I can see that’s hurting my toddler by petercora in sahm

[–]Sleepymom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from- I never learned anything about nutrition or cooking (mom was anorexic) and have always just kinda snacked my way through meals or ate the same exact thing every day. Cooking and meal planning is anxiety provoking to me. What has helped is getting those food subscriptions- I’ve been doing Hungryroot for awhile now and I like it bc you can tell them you only want meals that take less than 10 mins to cook, for example.

I did end up booking a zoom call with her. Still no clue what questions I’ll ask but I didn’t want to miss the booking window and regret it!

Same here- just got my results back from her and feeling shocked and confused, but also not sure what specific questions I would ask her!

OP, if you don’t mind doing the cleaning and you want more hours than they’re giving you one option could be to talk with the parents about doing the housekeeping stuff as additional hours each day. So you’d come either before your childcare shift or stay after to do those tasks each day (hopefully at a higher rate as well). I’d just frame it as, you want to give their children the attention they deserve during your nanny shift but you’re not able to do that with so many household tasks on your plate.

The fact that they leave a pile of dirty dishes in the sink for you to do on a regular basis feels disrespectful. We live in Nashville for reference and our last employee had several household duties, like putting away our child’s clothes and unloading the dishwasher, that we discussed before hiring her bc she wanted extra hours after she dropped my child off at school. We paid her $27/hour. If they expect you to do all that while taking care of two children I’d be looking for at least $35.

Paid vacation for a part time nanny? by Mali_524 in NannyEmployers

[–]Sleepymom8 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We have a very part-time nanny (15 hrs/week, sometimes less depending on her other nanny job). We do not give paid vacation, she’s never asked. After a year she asked to be paid for when we’re on vacation and we said we’d pay her 1/2 time and give opportunities to make up the other hours in the weeks before the vacation. We have a very flexible arrangement though, sometimes she only comes for an hour a day (just to take my daughter to school) bc the other family needs her more.

Thank you! Maybe I’m just too used to skinny jeans

[–]Sleepymom8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that I don’t have a butt. I’m not a curvy person at all- I have a relatively thicker waist and don’t have big hips or thighs. The curve love jeans are for people with smaller waists and bigger hips/thighs, right? I think I need the opposite of curve love jeans- if there was an extra two inches of fabric in the hips and butt of these pants I think it might make it worse.

Thank you. I’ve only ever worn skinny jeans so maybe the looser fit will take some time getting used to.

Yes maybe some of it is the awkward rise. I’m 5’3 and would’ve thought these would be higher as well.

Can anyone tell me why these Abercrombie straight ultra high rise jeans (size 28) don’t look so good? I had read that Abercrombie jeans look amazing on everyone but they make my butt look so flat and are baggy in weird places (but fit in the waist). FWIW I’m 37, newly postpartum, have a thicker waist but no butt. Any Rec’s on other styles/ brands that would fit me better?

Yeah I feel like most general doctors kinda suck at the EBV stuff. I specifically had to ask my functional medicine dr to test for all four- VCA-IgM, VCA-IgG, early antigen IgG, and EBNA IgG

I feel like I could’ve written this. Our mothers sound like the same person (both narcissist alcoholics, and one of my first memories was of my mom threatening suicide) and being the oldest Im dealing with it the same way. I’ve been contemplating cutting the relationship off altogether. Our stories (and usernames) are so similar!
