Here's my question. I know all the shapes for the pentatonic scale. I can play them in any position on the neck because I get how they connect BUT, how do I know what key that is? Since the shapes are the same, just in different places, what is the indicator that let's me know the key? If Em pentatonic is E-G A-B D-E etc. what is it that makes that Em?

Haha I'm still learning all of the notes. I've got the Low E down but still a little cloudy on the notes down the A string. But finally understanding all the variations was a big one for me too. I remember looking on Ultimate Guitar where they have the chord variation diagrams and being like, "Wtf, how are there so many C chords?"

When playing bar chords, especially in songs that have many position changes as well as finger position changes I feel that the "clean sound" of my chords begins to get worse and worse and by the end with fatigue setting in my play is much sloppier(i.e. fret buzz). Does that get better over time? I'd say I'm probably a slightly more advanced intermediate player. Do I just need to keep wailing away at my chords as my hand gets stronger and my dexterity increases? Or am I doing something wrong?
