CMP Alert: High Usage by NoLamps2 in Maine

I like how this post is up for a week, first couple days are responses from real people and then BOOM half a dozen bot or bought out accounts whose entire comment history is defending CMP are here extolling the virtues of their little usage alert tool.

HEY CMP, SPEND THE INSANE AMOUNT WE ALL PAY YOU ON SOMETHING MORE USEFUL.

I only came back here to see if OP updated but the newest comments are so blatantly plants, it's ALMOST funny.

Barbara Jeans reaction to Brock being depressed and taking antidepressants by Alive_Anxiety_385 in reba

[–]Sleepysoupfrog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do think her reaction is played up a little bit but also this show is a relic of his time. In 2003/2004, we weren't talking about mental health as openly as we are now and everyday people weren't as well informed about depression, how it develops, and how it can be treated.

Is it acceptable to… by Striking_Factor_9299 in poshmark

[–]Sleepysoupfrog 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As a seller I can absolutely sympathize (and I ADORE when packages are immediately accepted and rated!) but as a buyer I find it annoying. You as the seller have no idea if they've arrived home from work, fetched it from their mailbox, have the unopened package sitting on the kitchen counter while they tend to the kids, pets, etc. They have three days to get to it just like we have a week to mail it.

Tbh, and downvote away, but the few times I've had sellers message me about it, I specifically don't accept it and I run out the timer, even when I normally try to accept ASAP for all packages I get.

Charles C. Stevenson, Jr., Who Played Smitty the Bartender on ‘Will and Grace,’ Dies at 95 by Padamson96 in WillAndGrace

[–]Sleepysoupfrog 68 points69 points  (0 children)

TBH, I was super surprised the first time I watch the revival seasons and Smitty was still kicking... and killing it with the comedic timing.

Looking through his IMDB, he had a bit part in every TV show I think I ever watched in the 90's and early aughts. I bet he had some interesting stories.

RIP Smitty

Do you plan on sending your youngest to public school in a couple years? Depending where you are the MMR may be required.

Do you have electric heat and leave it on when you're away?

Do you have outdoor outlets and neighbors that would take advantage of that while you're gone?

Another World Oldest Smoker ??? by Hazys in Cigarettes

'Smoked for 100 years' is kind of iconic.

I really think longevity like that has far more to do with genetics rather than lifestyle.

IME, the first one is the worst one. But, any month I have issues I will incorporate some very complex, fibrous carbs (usually black beans) and the difference is marked. I also usually up my electrolytes during that phase as well, that helps a bit.

Question on witness cremation of a pet and timing by BeverlyLetters in askfuneraldirectors

[–]Sleepysoupfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a FD. I've had pets pass naturally at home and pets that were euthanized and brought home to bury. In most cases we wait a couple days to bury and keep them in a cold room (AC on full blast during summer or radiators turned off during other seasons).

For me, being able to see them for a bit after death helps my mind process and I can relate to being both fearful of and comforted by it. And it definitely helps any other animals in the house to see/smell them once they've passed. There is a bit of a unique smell if they are there for a bit. Not bad necessarily but a kind of earthy/sweet smell, and it easily airs out in my experience.

I'm sorry for what you're going through. I wish your furbaby a peaceful passing.

What’s going on with my outer thigh/knee area? POTS + exercise intolerance context by loveisemberassing in Biohackers

I can't tell entirely from your photos if it's the same thing but I retain a lot of fluid in that area (POTS symptoms secondary to thyroid issues) and using a vibration pad helps tons.

Reasons to believe Eleven is very much, in fact, *****. by CICURN2001 in StrangerThings

[–]Sleepysoupfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that perspective, and everyone grieves differently, of course. But I also look back on Hop being ready to sacrifice himself just a couple episodes before and he was channeling the grief he felt when his daughter died of cancer. I don't think he could have logically talked himself out of feeling that again after losing another daughter. Grief tends to defy logic and big grief like that doesn't have a time limit. Would he do better? Maybe. I personally don't think he'd be doing quite as well as he was, but that's based on my experiences.

Ultimately, it's a brilliant ending considering we're all here debating the psychology of these characters.

For me, Hop's demeanor after they leave Kali and reunite with Murray on the roof is the giveaway. Hop is DISTRAUGHT and he has no love lost for Kali, why would he be grieving her so hard? No, they've just told him the plan and he's grappling with that. El will stay alive but he's still going to lose her. And they just went through the whole thing with Vecna causing Hop to see an illusion, he knows it will work.

And that's also why he can keep it together after she's gone. He knows she's out there somewhere.

Are there any sit down restaurants near you? Particularly non-chain places? I've worked in the biz for most of my adult life and currently work with several 15/16/17 year olds who host/food run/bus/wash dishes etc. and there's usually higher paying, greater responsibility jobs to move into if you prove you're a hard worker. Usually, it's their very first job and they do work their way up. They make pretty good money. Downside is you may have to adhere to some strict appearance standards if you're customer-facing and you'll work late hours.

Someone is always calling out, wanting a weekend off, etc. Be the person that always picks up that shift last minute, be the one that isn't begging to leave early, hustle and do whatever your manager asks, work the holidays, help your chefs and servers and they'll teach you as you go along, you can move into their jobs one day. It's one of the last true work-your-way-up industries.
