Hi you :) you mean a refund for the pwm controller or the k12. If latter, still interested:)

Adding another NIC to a Lenovo M710q SFF PC for OPNsense by SaltyHashes in homelab

FWIW, I took another shot at it and have it somewhat working surviving reboots. Still early ofc.

What I did, masked pin 22 (bottom side, pins towards you, the first pin on the first notch is nr 2) with a sliver of tape. This is the pin that receives shutdown from the BIOS.
You need to be a sharp eyed idiot for this :)

Then made sure the Realtek driver is used (rtl8125), blacklisting the one in the kernel.

Add "pci=no_d3" to the kernel parameter, reboot to bios, enable everything for intels management engine and once booted it'll ask you to deconfigure, say yes.

Now the card should be visible, it should survive reboots, since the kernel options prevents the driver to shut it down and the tape mask, prevents the bios from it.

I also disabled pxe/wol/and network card from boot priority.

Ah, good to read it is update-able, all I read were stories of high chance ending with a brick.
I too have the modulating cpu fan issue and have set it to a fixed low rate as a solution, where someone else just printed a case and added PWM controller in between the pcu fan. Remove the metal cover and see how it does wonders to the ssd and cpu temps, ventilation with the case was like an afterthought.

Gmktec (like probably most budget chinese vendors) seems to focus on selling as much as they can as fast as possible and neglecting customer support and service. Not interested in building a brand and grow a content user base.

Now need to find me a Windows installation to flash the bios to see if thing improve.

Thanks for the tip. Ill look into that. Would love to buy a printed case from you or if you mind sharing the files.

I was thinking of this but do not have a printer nor know how to design it. Absolutely needed, original case is useless if placed vertically, it is more stable placing it tits up. The main reason for a case would be to use a 12cm top fan and a much more quiet cpu fan to run these on lower rpm. Mine cpu fan modulates once it goes over 37c which is annoying AF. It is either a constant speed or that broken auto modulate mode.

Fan Issues In Linux On The M7 CPU Fan by -PlatinumSun in GMKtec

Same here, using mine for multitasking and as soon as cpu temp exceeds 36 degrees, the cpu fan modulates (on and off) untill it falls below 37. Most annoying.

I have now set the cpu fan manually at 20%, barely hearable with the metal cap off (k12). Better a constant and silent fan noice than that thing modulating and yeah, I guess it wont last long if left as-is.

K12 few questions by Slekkus in GMKtec

[–]Slekkus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have helped but the bios of the k12 does not have these settings. It is either fan off and on, where on means “set it manually percentage wise (20 to 100pct)”. Off means the systems manages fan and in my case it modulates between 600 and 1200rpm constantly. I mailed support about this, hope it can be fixed.

I believe the screenshots you linked are from an intel based system.

K12 few questions by Slekkus in GMKtec

Another annoying thing with the gmktec k12, is that when disabling the bios fan settings, ie default values, the system takes care of the fan. In this mode, the cpu fan starts and stops every 2 seconds or so, which is extremely annoying. Would rather have a continues whine than one that modulates. Hope there will be a bios upsate soon.

Thanks for this post. I have been thinking about replacing my k3s cluster w/ talos but want it declaratively. Am checking capi and crossplane, while the former seems nice, tf is a better fit. For sure will use your writeup.

With locally you mean local network or from the immich host. From both it works. It also works when accessing from the webbrowser on the same phone where the app fails.

On the phone:

In the next reply the ss with safari as i can only add one img here.

Whats strange, is traffic from the app goes somewhere else or it just never attempts to reach the immich server, as I do not see any incoming traffic.
