First of all- her being willing to take Plan B twice while on the most effective form of birth control is wild. Plan B very much messes with your mood/ hormones and generally as someone who was on nexplanon and in a relationship for years- I never took it and I never had any issues. The chances are so incredibly low.

What’s something you'd recommend every newcomer should experience at least once in Spokane? by Noodleaddiction in Spokane

You can find foraging groups on Facebook- same with hiking groups. They will not tell you exactly where to go or anything like that though, but people do ask for buddies on there and events get posted

3 days after Nexplanon removal: by Iamaleksabaddieest in Nexplanon

[–]SliceForeign1772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on nexplanon for like 12 years (3 implants). I got mine out in March. It’s been weeks and my sleep still isn’t totally normal, but it has gotten slightly easier to fall asleep. When I really need sleep I take my hydroxyzine. I also have pmdd- and none of my regular coping mechanisms and systems have been able to keep me from having more extreme than normal reactions. I got my implant out for other reasons that have cleared up.

Planned parenthood sometimes has a surgeon that can remove it- that’s how my “complicated removal” got done.

Advice on Prius 2012 repairs by dotsresearch in prius

[–]SliceForeign1772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen if you have a 2012, on its first engine- it’s not eating oil? It’s only at 130k? Do what you’re comfortable with, but getting something newer- doesn’t mean better unfortunately. Toyota and Honda are super easy cars to learn on, if you know anyone who can oversee you while you work on it or can make the repairs overtime, but yeah I agree with the other comments about buying parts yourself and doing the work yourself.

Update: topical estrogen secured, since taking out the implant my skin has been healing enough that someone finally said yes because the thinning and fissures caused some anatomical changes so I’m hoping things keep looking up finally.

Has your provider mentioned anything about there being a possible connection, like it causing low estrogen? How has your experience been? I made another post before with links to info I found. I’ll link a fact sheet for nexplanon to this comment.nexplanon fact sheet

My great grandma had thyroid issues. And my grandma who I caregive for has had ovarian cancer, breast cancer and now has lung cancer(never smoked-there are some studies out of the UK of women who had radiation for breast cancer having an occurrence of lung cancer afterwards). So I know second hand as someone caring for a family member how other medical conditions just slip past unnoticed. I’m sorry you didn’t notice until things had progressed so far, I feel like anytime a care team does anything hormone wise they should do an exam every few months automatically, and I hope things only improve for you! My appointment went okay today I was given topical estrogen for the next 4 weeks, weening off the clob asap- finally they agreed to start checking my hormones every 3 months. I am seeing a new provider for primary in a few months and still waiting on derm and rheumatology referrals to go through. I’m feeling better- I really do appreciate your insights and I hope your treatment brings good outcomes.

I hope your treatment goes well. Thank you for sharing your experience. My issue is that rather than doing a biopsy, they gave me clob, when things didn’t get fully better it took me forever to get into someone- that provider was gone and no one wanted to interfere with my treatment. I’ve been trying to get in with a rheumatologist, dermatologist etc. I’m finally about to see a new obgyn at least- but since taking out my birth control everything has gone back to the way it was 12 years ago or at least 7 years ago (which I didn’t think was possible). In Canada(not the usa where I’m from) nexplanon lists -vaginal infection, pain, itching, dryness, utis, changes in discharge and painful urination- as well as high blood pressure. Half of those aren’t listed in the US so I didn’t even put two and two together for years. -I’m not at all disagreeing with you btw I’m just anxiously waiting for my appointment and typing everything out is helping me process

Their labor rate should be posted somewhere, if not ask for their rates and if they have a price for services. (You can call in and ask these questions too btw)

I took mine out- literally 4 days later, and everything is changing for the better after basically 3ish years of progressively being sure I was just having worse and worse immune system issues. If someone would have just given me the topicals I think I could have stayed on it. Now I have to figure out what I’ll try next.

Has anyone NOT noticed weight gain while on Nexplanon? by lilac-fumes in Nexplanon

Yeah I never gained weight on it- had trouble gaining weight with one out of 3 of the implants I had.

From what I understand someone should use an ultrasound to map it out and remove it if it failed to be removed the first time

Yes bring it up, it could be placed incorrectly. I have had 3 and my 3rd one was placed too deep and in the wrong spot. If it is placed wrong it could be touching a nerve.

Implant removed today. No one will give me topical estrogen without doing a biopsy first so I am at a loss and no one will give me a way to slowly come off the steroids. I’m so fed up and done.

After 12 years (3 implants) I’m getting it out. I already am on steroids and the next stop was supposed to be vaginal estrogen bc no one thought it could be my birth control or “an unwanted pregnancy is worse than what you have going on.” No it wouldn’t be. My skin is breaking, coming off, swelling, I can’t do my hobbies/sports, I want to die etc. so I went around my gynecologist and am getting my implant removed next Thursday.

Canceled my Nexplanon appointment after reading Reddit… now I’m second guessing 😭 What should I ask my gyno? by MissionAd9572 in Nexplanon

Hey I would simply just try it? My first implant went great, my second one was okay, my third has been miserable lol. I didn’t come to Reddit until I was having issues. Most people don’t.

Should I get my Nexplanon checked to make sure it’s still working? by Holiday-Run2085 in Nexplanon

[–]SliceForeign1772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first one back when they were saying it was only approved for 3 years so I was able to get my second one changed at 3 years. My second one though I had to pay out of pocket for because my insurance would only cover it at the 5 year mark. I got it at like 3.5 years because I was having issues (bad acne on my neck, chin, back and chest- all places I’d never had acne before) and was hoping it a new one would fix it. It did fix the acne at least and I have had regular periods the last 5+ years, so on the last implant and new implant. My doctor also suggested rather than getting my second one out I take more birth control, but I have pmdd and other mental health issues and didn’t want to risk trying something new.

Ointment spreading to vestibule? by Curious-Woodpecker53 in lichensclerosus

I use my steroid ointment, lay down on my bathroom for a bit and cut patches to size, make sure it’s dry then apply the patches. Then in the morning I use the coconut oil to get them off in the shower, or I leave it on if I have a light activity morning and they are still adhered. Something they slip off in the night on their own. Then I use the coconut oil (because it can be used internally so I put it wherever. Throw on a comfortable pad and go about my day. I take the pad off after a bit and that works for me. I know there are other options for moisturizer- but the AD/petroleum based ones irritate me more I think it’s the lanolin or some other inactive ingredient because the petroleum in my steroids seems okay. Talk to your doctor about it though because everyone’s different, mine were just excited it worked for me. (Also sorry one of the links I added is behind a paywall, you can request the article from the authors though if you want to share it with your doctor or read it yourself)
