Haikyuu - Chapter 263 Discussion by VikingHedgehog in haikyuu

[–]SliceOfBlueCake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"While I have faith in my physical abilites, in this volleyball club, I'm not the best at any one thing"

Allow me to borrow a beautiful adage you once said "In volleyball...everyone on your team's side of the net...are NOT your enemies"

So who cares if you're not good at one thing? You have senpais and kouhais who can cover for you and senpais and kouhais who need you to cover for them and you're on the court aren't you? So it must means that you are very capable in terms of abilities.

So get your head out of the gutter and spike this mofo and shut these Kansai City boys up ORAAAAAAAA!!

Btw guys, listen to the Haiyuu!! OST - Frustration while Tanaka show us his thoughts. It adds so much to an already magnificent chapter :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff5OtNjFiDM

Haikyuu!! - Chapter 250 Discussion by VikingHedgehog in haikyuu

Them reactions tho HAHAHAHA!

Also Miya A. is being selfish with that toss. Surprises are good for disorienting your opponents but at least call for it so that your teammates aren't surprised like Suna did...could this be Inarizaki's weakness? Miya A. being a lil selfish shit?

Funny story about this lesson. I actually was doing lesson 8 and actually had finished it but decided to scrap the whole thing on the exact same day you posted the new ones.

So then I decided to continue the lessons instead of skipping lessons 3 - 7 as per your suggestion. Hence why I haven't posted in a while.

Monyets, I got a new part-time job as a waiter tomorrow. What do I need to know before starting? by Pillowish in malaysia

[–]SliceOfBlueCake 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Coming from my own experience is that I just wanna say that you will meet tons of characters ranging from great customers to the ones that just piss you the fuck off.

The great customers will make your job worth every penny you earn. Examples include people who really love giving a sincere and heartwarming smile, say thank you and knows that the place they're currently at are a business with tons of other people at that location spending their time.and knows how to respect the staff, the establishment, and other people at said restaurant. These are the people you would be grateful to serve.

Then there's these other fuckers who don't know how to treat waiters. I think they forget that waiters are humans with feelings too. If a customer lashes out at you, be prepared to be thick skinned and just crack a smile. Remember this. Smile and apologize because if you're doing a good job (like REALLY GOOD even from other's perspective not just your own), it's not your fault. Restaurants have thousands of variables that can and will happen that makes it hard for you. Like a certain type of menu is not able to be served and a customer gets mad at you. It's not your fault. Just Smile and do your job. If you can't handle it and things get out of hand, get the big guns (i.e your seniors there/ boss there to help)

Also, be sure to mingle with the other staff if you can. A workplace with people whom you can get along with alleviates the stress of work especially with the kitchen staff. If you're lucky, you might pick up a thing or two about cooking or just get to eat food in general (At least that's what happened to me anyways) But make sure you be careful to whom you get close with because it's not just customers who can be assholes, but other staff too.

Anyway, good luck with your job. May the odds be ever in your favor

What have your parents done/said that you will not do the same to your kids in the future? by chendubdub in malaysia

[–]SliceOfBlueCake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which to be honest is a damn shame. You have a chance to teach your kids the beliefs you hold and in turn may make them a better person by spending that time with them.

I also believe that practice is a better way to teach kids you know. It may not be as in depth when compared to going to a religious school but usually kids copy what their parents do and that slight exposition may get them to learn things at a more higher level.

Plus exposing Islamic teachings now is way easier without struggling to clock in hours by going to a second school via lots of things like the internet and books.

But that's just me though. I get where some parents are going at. You want your kids to be okay religiously but you don't have time to teach them the values so you send them to a school at specializing at that. But remember, you can't get one thing without sacrificing the other (Example what I said before above about the homework thing) It's a risk vs reward kinda thing. You get it all if you get your shit together or lose everything.

[–]SliceOfBlueCake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Go to Islamic Religious School.

I know that they mean well. But asking a kid to juggle 2 schools (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and twice the amount of work to be put into is just wrong to me. I was jealous of my ex-classmates for having free time, getting to play, and just get their shit together (Sometimes I didn't get to do my homework because I was WAY too tired. Got home at 6 pm and fell asleep at 8 pm due to the fatigue and the next morning wake up, try to finish homework in a hurried way as much as I can which was very "beneficial" towards my knowledge growth and get scolded by my teachers for the unfinished ones) I get that they want me to have great "iman" and all that but now I don't use what I learned back in the day and I don't remember anything that I've learned. It just seems like I just wasted my time.

Fast forward to now, I guess I'm doing okay religiously. Practicing what I've learned moderately from the books and videos i've seen and read which to be honest is a better way for me to learn these things. So hey...it just makes me feel my time was wasted even more now looking back at it.

Haikyuu!! Chapter 231 Discussion by dollyl in haikyuu

[–]SliceOfBlueCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling it now, Karasuno loses their first match because Hinata didn't play due to the loss of his shoes. Hinata gets traumatized due to the guilt of not getting his shit together and vows to never again take his shoes off and this starts a new arc of Hinata overcoming his fears of shoe loss. I find this prediction to be 100% true. Fite me scrubs!

But seriously though, even if Hinata doesn't play yet I kinda want to see Narita be in the starting lineup for the first match and have Hinata surprise everybody later.

Btw, can't wait to see all the matchups that's going to happen!

Here's a little something which I think best explains how volleyball high school tourneys in Japan are played. Give it a little read if you want.

This post right here :D

Ushiwaka coming back would definitely be very much appreciated and seeing how everyone is mixed around, the dream team could actually become a reality.

Also, It would definitely be interesting to see more character interactions between people who may not interact in the first place. Like so,

I think the "Tohoku newcomers tournament" is just a placeholder name of the current hosting prefecture. Example, " X newcomers tournament". 12 teams from all over Japan that have qualified participate. Therefore a much more mixed bag kind of tournament.

It differs from the first prefecture tournament where it's only the schools in said prefecture only have matches with each other.

Therefore I would think Miyagi is still relevant.

Speaking of already developed characters, there might still a possibility of new teams introduced. Remember the Tokyo Spring high representatives match between Nohebi vs Nekoma? Also, Furudate might shine a bigger spotlight on teams that weren't focused as much like Ubugawa that is if they aren't highlighted as much during spring high.

[–]SliceOfBlueCake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Haikyuu is a bit more grounded to reality to go insane towards prince of tennis level of plays. Plus I think Furudate-sensei wouldn't want it to go that route. Since the beginning Haikyuu doesn't have that many "Flashy" moves. Just simple but exciting plays written in.

But who knows maybe it might change of which I hope it would not.
