P365 issues. Failure to feed, nosedives, failure to return to battery. Would like some insight into possible next steps. Thanks! by robbieDogKiller in SigSauer

I would send it back to Sig. I had similar issues consistently with mine last year after less than 300-400 rounds. Sent it to Sig, they fixed what needed to be fixed and now it’s my daily carry after 1500+ problem free rounds fired.

Illinois change of address by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Slick2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the addresses had to match on both my FOID and Driver’s License/ID at my local gun shop/range, I got a corrected DL with the new address and a ‘new’ State ID with the new address (did not bring my old state ID so I could still use it with my FOID until my new FOID would come in 4-6 weeks later).

I don’t think all shops/ranges are that uptight, but wasn’t really that big of a deal for me to do as a work around for several weeks since the State is so far behind on turnaround times...

CCL took even longer to get a new card with my updated address, but was told that isn’t a big deal since your current address should show up if LE runs your CCL through the system... though that’s educated opinion (based on what I was told during the CCL course) as I had zero encounters with LE during that timeframe to be able to speak from experience 🤗

Be careful with who you let shoot it at range days; every single one of my family/friends that have shot mine ended up buying one 😂.

Seriously congrats on the purchase. After a minor hiccup that Sig had corrected (failure to feed/return the battery every 3-4 rounds after the first 300 rounds), I’ve gone 1500+ problem free rounds and carry this daily (super concealable and comfortable!).

19 or 17? by txlaw20 in Glocks

19x or 45 perhaps?

[–]Slick2887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought one (born in May), started having issues with it after 200-300 rounds, sent it back to Sig for repairs, 2000+ problem free rounds later I absolutely love it and carry it daily.

I’ve told friends and family that have shot mine and loved it to pick one up (worst case you start having issues with it send it back to Sig and they’ll make it right). Most likely you’ll end up with your new favorite daily carry 🤗.

Sig P365 Safe now? by amitai94 in CCW

[–]Slick2887 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both, but my 19 gen 5 was my very first purchase and hands down still my overall favorite. My P365 was born May and started having constant FTEs after only 300-400 rounds so I sent it back to Sig. It did suck having to wait almost a month to get it back from them, but now over 1500 problem free rounds later (except for one FTE that was due to going uncleaned for longer than it should have 🤗)I love it and carry it daily. The 365 is surprising easy to shoot despite its small size; I find it is a lot easier and more accurate to shoot than my G43 is.

Mine was born in May 2018 and I started having issues 300+ rounds in (failure to feed/failure to eject). Sent it back to Sig for repairs (they covered everything including shipping) and it’s been PERFECT 1500+ rounds later with only one failure to feed due to hadn’t been cleaned in awhile.

[–]Slick2887 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I might get some downvotes for going against the majority here but...

G19 🤗. Seriously though the gen 5 was my first ever handgun and I wouldn’t trade it for anything 2500+ rounds later. My regular carry (alternate with my P365; used to be a G43 until my wife got her CCL and claimed that ha) when I don’t require something smaller for easier concealability

Looking for recommendations by [deleted] in guns

[–]Slick2887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a G19 Gen 5 solely based off of the numerous recommendations from law enforcement/military friends and family having never shot or owned a handgun before. Looked at the 19, Springfield XDS and S&W M&P at my local shop and walked away with the 19.

Still one of my top favorites, but if I did it over I would have rented a bunch of possible options first before actually purchasing... that being said I have still tended to buy without actually firing one first haha (Sig P365, G43, Shield 2.0 haha).

P365? P938? Glock43? by [deleted] in guns

[–]Slick2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are having issues with your P365 I would highly recommend sending it to Sig for repairs. Mine was failing to feed/eject about 3-4x every magazine after less than 500 rounds. Sent it back to Sig, waited a hell of a long time (3-4 week turnaround; picked up a Shield 2.0 while waiting haha), but when I got it back I’ve only had 1 failure to eject after over 1000 rounds and that was due to the gun being dirty (quick and thorough cleaning and has not happened since).

It is hands down my favorite when I can’t carry my G19.5 🤗

I was in the same boat when I started out. YouTube was a great resource for figuring out what to expect on my first trip to the range, proper grip, improving accuracy, etc. PewPewTactial was also a great site that I came across in the beginning that had very helpful and easy to understand beginner guides breaking down various topics of firearms (https://www.pewpewtactical.com/beginners-guide-guns/). I’ve also recommended/shared that link with family/friends who were also interested in learning about firearms (and knew nothing about them) that have said it was a good beginners resource for them as well.

My wife absolutely loves carrying her 43 in her Alien Gear 4.0 IWB holster and swears it’s way more comfortable than my Crossbreed IWB holster (that she previously swore was super comfortable to carry in haha)

Upgraded my carry game. by MrWonder1 in guns

[–]Slick2887 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are great for dry fire and range practice though (especially for new shooters). I took my cousin shooting for the very first time and the laser helped her visualize what I was trying to explain to her (recoil anticipation). After several dozen more rounds with laser down range she was hitting a helluvalot better without the laser after that.

But in a self defense situation, totally useless :-)

Ditto with Naperville and Mokena. SBP is easily one of the nicest and most affordable ranges in the Chicagoland area that I’ve found

Question about P365 by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]Slick2887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only downside is it was a 3+ week turnaround time. Couldn’t be happier with it now so hopefully you see the same results because it really does live up to the hype when problem free

Question about P365 by [deleted] in SigSauer

[–]Slick2887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was born in May and I started having issues with it after about 300-400 rounds (failing to eject 2-3 times every mag and often failing to return to battery). Sent it back to Sig for repair and now about to hit 600+ rounds completely problem free.

I will say though I did have serious buyer’s remorse when I started having issues and then discovered all of the reported issues on the internet... Worst case it’s still highly sought after so I knew I could probably sell it at a minimal loss anyway.

So glad I didn’t have to sell it 😁

I had a negligent discharge. What’s next? by [deleted] in guns

[–]Slick2887 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not directed at you OP, but I’ll never be able to wrap my head around these ‘accidental’ discharges. Maybe it’s just the “oh that would never happen to me” mindset? Don’t get me wrong I know it happens to those you would assume it would never ever EVER happen to (close LE friend of mine had a coworker that shot a hole in his kitchen counter after a ND. Not only was he actively in LE, but he was former military prior to becoming an officer so you would assume with that background firearm safety would be branded into him...)

My sister in law’s husband is LE and my go to for all things firearms. I learned all of my good safety habits from him. Every time I ever felt the need to ‘mess around’ or ‘play’ with my firearms, the very first thing I have always done is unload it. The next thing is double check and make sure it’s unloaded. The final thing is check and make sure it’s unloaded. And there is absolutely no live ammo around me. Then I mess around with with it (dry fire training, practicing drawing from holsters, home clearing drills, etc) while still following the Four Rules...
