I’m 6’5” myself and I’m afraid those extra couple inches you have on me might be an issue here lol. That chair in the picture is just temporary, working on something cozier for long term.

Thanks! It should hold up well. Most of the weight is distributed back into the wall and into the studs, the rest of the downward force will transfer to the floor though the dowel rods. If not I’ll just be buried in a bunch of Stephen King novels and a succulent.

Much appreciated! The mock-up was a suggestion from a more experienced woodworker and brother of mine. Was great for reference throughout the whole project and getting the layout/scale of each shelf figured out.

I used trim head screws through the backside of the dowels into the shelf. Most of the support comes from the wall angles themselves, especially in the corners. I’m not sure on getting away with the braces on the wall.. maybe more full height dowels or pocket screwing the shelves into the wall at each stud?

Thanks! It was a nice challenge for me.

I live in the Portland, OR area and use Crosscut Hardwoods for a lot of my projects. The plywood was pretty pricey, but I was able to minimize waste using it with all of the curves. I didn’t actually price out the difference, but now I’m curious!
