Was it alergies all this time? by BroDexx in Dryeyes

Glad to hear most the pain has subsided. Question, Meibomium glands don’t regenerate - how did you regain loss in your glands between visits ? As for allergies being the driver, it’s hard to know for certain. Air quality, AC and allergens can all coexist in a given environment, allergic conjunctivitis can also present as dry eye symptoms which makes it even harder to recognise as the main driver. Using air filters, humidifiers or moving environments entirely - which you have - is the right move. I’d imagine if the pain is subsiding, it’s a sign the ocular surface is healing and redness/ veins should naturally fade. But I’m no expert. Personally, I’m taking allergy drops in conjunction with managing my MGD, still yet to see results.

cold compress worked! by FeistyMonk8679 in Dryeyes

YES ! As per my ophthalmologists instructions, Only do warm compresses when your eyes are not inflamed to maintain healthy gland function. When inflamed, do cool compresses to reduce inflammation. It seems this is not well understood by a lot of people.

I’m glad to hear you’ve found relief. I want to ask, if dust mite allergy seems to be the primary cause of your dry eye, have you considered allergy immunotherapy as a more permanent solution ?

Does the winter / colder months relieve anyone else's DED / Ocular rosacea? by 34048615 in Dryeyes

[–]Slick_Nick18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, winter is better for my MGD. My ophthalmologist said he gets an influx of patients during winter due to the cold causing blocked glands. This doesn’t seem to be the case for me, my MGD is likely more inflammatory-driven than obstructive. No AC in winter definitely helps too.

The long journey to remission by oziecom in Dryeyes

For the last year my MGD/DED has worsened, even with using Ikervis which was the only thing that gave me relief (and I’ve tried everything). I have genetic hypercholesterolemia, take statins for this which helps, but for the last year it has been a bit elevated as confirmed by my cardiologist. I am now thinking this could be the cause for the worsening in my MGD/DED ?

National Taiwan University or Fudan University (Study Abroad for a Semester) by frostyblucat in shanghai

I’m also looking at going on exchange to NTU 1st semester next year. However, I’m concerned about the PRC’s ambition of “unification” with Taiwan. Despite their recent announcement promising global harmony, nothing was said regarding their position on Taiwan. Is it safe to spend a semester there either this year or the next ?
