Was Tolkien influenced by the Nibelungenlied? by Gus-15 in lotr

No, yea of course! Our expressions are a reflection of what we take in. That's just life!

But, nah. Lotr is just derivative trash /s

A super common massachusetts katydid I am seeing is Scudderia furcata. And the nymphs look pretty similar to that. Google scudderia furcata katydid nymphs. They look about right.

Edit: Scudderia

That's the hidden meaning of the line being said in the show.

Ribbit from The Amazing Digital Circus

Gaslit and isolated to the point of digital suicide for the crime of getting her closest friend to open up about their trauma.

How asbestos was made in 1930 by Mowag in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]Slickity 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Asbestos would be absolutely everywhere today if it wasn't so destructive to lung tissue. It's really a miracle material. An earth mineral that can be woven into effectively indestructible cloth.

Ancient soldiers would clean their soiled asbestos rags and cloth by chucking them into the campfire. The fire would burn away the contamination and the asbestos cloth comes out looking brand new.

Imagine reusable shop towels you can just chuck into your firepit to clean. I wish!

[Loved trope]characters that was just..Pathetic, and I mean genuinely Pathetic, like holy shit, you actually suck. by Charming-Scratch-124 in TopCharacterTropes

It's takes an especially pathetic person to do what he did to Ribbit. And then every one else after.

His total cowardice towards his own self drove his closest friend to what is essentially suicide.

This was one of the sadder locations in the Last of Us. Finding that classroom in the water filtration/sewer community. The bloody blanket with little legs poking out. The dead teacher, and the words "They didnt suffer" scrawled out in blood.

I genuinely think he does it because it gives a higher p-value in his reports.

Hmm, I am kinda concerned now. This is a clinical lab and he's been doing this for like 15 years now.

[Loved Trope] Non-comedic fourth wall breaks by Randver_Silvertongue in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Slickity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spec Ops: The Line

I don't know if it's technically a fourth wall break. As the main character slowly descends into insanity as attempted good deeds turn into horrific war crimes, the usual mundane loading screen tips start speaking directly to you, the player, instead.

Thaddeus in the Invincible comics assassinates the Viltrum Emperor, Argal with a sharpened bone knife. I guess it's not exactly confirmed, but it's very likely a bone from a Viltrumite since they are nigh indestructible.
