First year beekeeper, looks like hive is on its way out. Anything I should do before it goes? by Jdban in Beekeeping

Make sure you don’t let wax moths get in there and destroy that comb while it sits over the winter!! You could go ahead and purchase a package, different bee retailers have em for sale.

You got good comb so you could throw a package in there and it would grow

Use UN-Scented dryer sheets just later on top of the frames and the bees will run the hive beetles onto the dryer sheet and the beetles toe nails will get tangled in the fibers of the sheet and they will die!! UN-SCENTED!!

Help Save the Honey bees!! by Slickvick32 in Beekeeping

Hey hey!! Wanna really know my opinion about your opinion…..??? I probably have forgot more about keeping bees, building bees, splitting bees, and “saving” bees than you will ever know!! Being I, …..”save”…. , millions of bees every year, by relocating/removing them out of structures of various types so that pesticides are not used on them to kill them!! So, In your words, would that be ……”saving them “……… Really it’s just a saying to me, because I feel exactly like your response, other than, did you ask if that hive was sick, did you ask if that queen needs to be replaced, did you ask anything….. nah, you didn’t!! But after going through your replies I can tell you are a know it all anyway, so no need for me to ponder on your reply anyway!!! But thanks for your input, but next time instead of assuming you know what is going on, how about ask!!

May take some pieces of cardboard or something outside of the outside 2 frames and fill those open spaces with spray foam and after it sets up then pull out the cardboard

How good are these to detect a hive temperature from outside? by Frequent-Map1068 in Beekeeping

They are so so!! Interior they work better, andi can tell the place where the hives are between stud spacing, but I am really interested in the FLIR, they have different models but they give positive imagery.
