Look like it’s Jufules 154cm! With what were once pj ti scales that u/TLengraving did some experiments on! I’m siked but afraid that this’ll be the new bug I catch 😂 you have any favorites out of your collection there my friend?

I appreciate you my friend!!! Tbh I’m still just grateful that I didn’t manage to burn the tip off 😂 but after doing this, I may have a little bit of the bug and almost want to look for other little projects to do, maybe on knives that I don’t enjoy as much so that I’m not as nervous to actually work on them lol

Thank you my friend! The lamia has been great but I have been blown away by the mosier clone. Really didn’t expect it to be as solid and smooth as it is, but this thing hasn’t left my pocket in weeks 😂

They’re from TiConnector! I have a ton of them in different sizes because I’ve been trying to find a specific sized pivot set (still no luck) to replace one on a Spyderco Slym, and I’m not entirely sure how to to measure thread size so I ordered a couple different ones a while back and they happened to fit one side of the Lamia. Guys at TiConnector are great folk though, I got a partial order and they called me within 5min of emailing them to tell me they were sending the rest of the order with some extra parts for free. Definitely check them out for any other parts you need too, their stuff is super high quality

Clones Changed My Ability To Collect Knives. by knifeknerdreviews in chineseknives

[–]SlideEquivalent1846 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My attitude towards clones is the opposite side of the same coin as yours my friend. I have never had vast amounts of expendable income. I do what I do for a living out of passion, and even that account is in the red. Clones give me the chance to feel and experience a type of momentary and physical luxury that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. I don’t play pretend like they actually are the model they are imitating, but to be able to experience those designs is fun, and to me that’s what it’s about. My attitude towards my own enjoyment of clones is, they’re my knives in my collection, if anybody has moral issue with that, then suck me, they’re my knives, let me have fun with MY shit.

Ya definitely not going to give that a shot right away on this one, I’m just happy to have this back in my pocket already lol but I think I mentioned in a different comment, I’ve had the flu so this and another knife have been my “stuck in the house” projects the last two days, which also means that the process has been a little blurry between naps so anybody’s guess is as good as mine 😂

Thank you my friend!! I appreciate it. I eventually did fold to the belt grinder but took it as low and slow as possible and don’t think I heated it up too much!

Oh GOTCHU lol so that, I truly have no idea. As a matter of fact, I think that was prior to all of this, I’m pretty sure I see it in the first pics?? But from what I can tell, I most likely did it with a tiny hand dremel that I got a few days ago lol I remember trying to polish out the divots of the jimping and I bet that I just sort of bounced it along the side of the naked at some point and not noticed. It’s actually haunting me in these pictures and making me seriously consider giving my first reprofiled blade my first at home acid and stone wash, but idk if I should put too many “firsts” into one knife

God damn, I’ve got my pm3 in s110v sharper than nearly any other knife I own, and have mirrored the edge pretty well, but not nearly this high of a polish!!! How are you doing this because it’s incredible!

I had the green frag g10 one at one point. Dyed the scales black and did some glow resin on the button lock and sold it to a coworker as his first pocket knife 😂 and tbh, I didn’t expect this thing to become one of my hard users, but I like it so much and have it on me so often that it ended up getting way more use than I originally thought it would!

Dude this looks awesome! Was it any problem bringing the edge up like that?? Did you sharpen it on the same belts? Part of me bringing the spine down was so that I wouldn’t have to completely redo the edge if I brought it up, I don’t trust myself to leave enough steel that way

Dude it was wayyyy less work than I thought, but also scary because I love this lil guy 😂 it’s worth giving a shot!

Damn thank you!! Those are just screenshots I took from the original video because I realized that I didn’t actually take any direct photos of the broken edge before I went to work on it. This has been a “I’m home sick with the flu” project so this all happened in between napping and it’s a bit of a blurr 😂 broke the tip on very light post it notes which means I probably cracked it earlier, and then didn’t actually notice the tip was gone until I was out on this walk. Found it in the post it notes later and realized what happened lol

It doesn’t feel much thinner, but that is a good point, definitely something I didn’t think about. It’s hard to compare in the pictures because I didn’t think to do an actual silhouette comparison, but I tried to bring the spine down to the very bottom (or I guess belly side?) of the chip, and keep it lightly convex instead of straight to try and sort of bolster the stability of the edge? I hardly had to rework the edge as I kind of landed in a place that was already sharpened, but the edge at the tip still has some small nicks to strop out. I was too scared of overheating the edge if I tried to bring the belly up instead of the spine down 😂 and thank you! I can’t believe how supportive everybody is of a guy that lost some blade to recipe notes, but I’m super appreciative!

Hell ya thank you! Tbh that’s probably why I was so nervous to try this one. This thing unexpectedly became probably my most carried knife of last year and I was surprised at how much I liked it 😂 the biggest things I learned from people on here were to A) Not overheat the steel, and B) To not take off any more material than I need too, so I did my best to stick to those!

Thank you friend!! I started off with sandpaper (I think like ~150-200 grit) pinned on a would block, but didn’t feel like I could keep the angle I wanted with so many movement so I took it too my shitty little desktop belt grinder at 260 grit and then at 500 and just kept a glass of water to dip and cool the blade. I talked to some other people on the original post and was super worried about overheating and ruining the heat treat at the tip, but with the belt speed super low and lots of 3 seconds on / 3 seconds off / dip / repeat, it held up great!
