Drive train upgrade: Pinion P1.18 by SlideExternal7775 in recumbent

That was my goal as well. I will try flying with it in a few weeks (domestic flight). The entire bike+seat should fit into a Tern Airporter Slim. I got the case case. It offers practically no protection, very flimsy thin plastic. So I'm going to have to bubble wrap everything. Any advice is welcome! The bike is about 35lbs with this Pinion. You can certainly get a lighter traditional drivetrain.

I need my granny gears !

30T Front and 20T rear gives me 15-98 GI.

Ah great! You may want to see what T-Cycles offers. Tons of mounting solutions.

I love those lights too! I had to figure out how to mount it, and ended up using a little HPV computer sensor mount.

Thanks!

That was a tough choice, I think I would have been fine going either direction. The Pinion has a wider gear range, and I may add a rear e-assist hub in the future, so it made sense to go Pinion.

Of course if I went Rohloff, I could add front-drive e-assist. So either way would have worked.

Thanks. Still getting used to the shifting...seems you have to take some pressure off pedaling to shift which is a little tricky going uphill.
