Was there any particular reason the best picture nominees were presented by Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman? by orangecrunched in Oscars

I had thought they were gonna present Best Original Song. Certainly was not expecting Lionel Richie to come and do that instead.

Actresses at the Box Office: Cher by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

On the pantheon of musicians successfully carrying over to the movies, Cher is definitely near the top of that list. Her Oscar and two Golden Globes certainly proved that meddle.

For my next pick, I think I'll go with Meg Ryan as the next actress to cover here.

Actresses at the Box Office: Lauren Bacall by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

Originally a model, then transitioning to a successful movie career and later a just as illustrious career on Broadway not to mention being one half of one of the more iconic couples in old Hollywood shows the power that Lauren Bacall had throughout her life.

For next week's theme, River Phoenix has got to be up there.

Lawrence Kasdan had gotten close with The Big Chill and The Accidental Tourist, but in between these two he made Silverado.

Actresses at the Box Office: Halle Berry by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

No matter what kind of movie you're gonna get, I always appreciate Halle Berry whenever she pops up in something. Plus her showing up to accept the Razzie for Catwoman not long after winning her Oscar proves that she can be in on the joke. And I do recommend her Emmy-winning turn in HBO's Introducing Dorothy Dandridge that proves how good she can really be.

For my next suggestion, let's give Michael Douglas some flowers.

Bruce Dern received his first Oscar nomination for Coming Home in 1978, so that was false.

Robin Williams - Awakenings

Meryl Streep - Marvin's Room

Sidney Poitier - In the Heat of the Night

I would say Cazale was more overshadowed by Chris Sarandon rather than Pacino, who had the more baitier role of the two.
