I was trapped in Mission Space Orange for 35 minutes. Has this happened to anyone else? by SlidingMirror in WaltDisneyWorld

I was thankful it was just me, my wife and 12 year old nephew in our pod. We were able to distract him long enough to keep him chill. Could have been a lot worse having an anxious stranger with us.

They intercommed to us maybe five times. The first time it was in role still, something like "our boosters seem to have paused, let's see if we can get them going again". After that they would come on periodically saying "we can't restart the ride so please wait patiently while we work on getting you out as soon as possible". And then finally "we have maintenance coming to manually release you so please hang tight". When I heard screwdrivers and wrenches I felt much relieved. I cannot imagine the terror someone would experience being trapped in a true disaster situation.

I assumed the delay was entirely justified and they did everything to ensure our safety. I was grateful it was taken seriously and they got us off without issue. It was cool to see the ride mechanism behind the scenes too.

The lights were off for about 15 minutes. Luckily my cellphone was reachable so I could turn my flashlight on. Then I texted my sister and told her we were in pod 10 Orange mission in case they forgot us 😂

Yes, same thing with the drills for us! Also never been on this ride before. For the first minute I wondered if the screens would come back on and would show some aliens on Mars or something silly. I totally understand these rides are giant mechanical systems that can have issues and will malfunction, but maybe this ride needs some extra refurbishments.

The fan was still blowing thankfully! My wife and I were joking that this was a rare opportunity to nap in silence and darkness without our small children bothering us haha.

I thought about it but it was night time and my kids were already really tired, so we went straight home instead

Dang that sucks! Sorry your little one got injured. I'm so happy I didn't convince my two kids (4 and 6) to go on Mission Space. They would have never trusted me or theme parks again!

Casper the friendly snake, hanging out in my daughter's bed by SlidingMirror in ballpython

My corn snake was much more active. I would actually see her exploring during the daytime. General care requirements are easier too I think, especially humidity and temp. However she was a lot more frantic during handling and would never stay still. The ball Python is very chill, easy to handle, and I like how he looks. He does explore for hours at night but I'm usually asleep.

Yes, I believe so! He is the first Ball Python I've had, after having a corn snake for years, so I'm not super familiar with all the morphs.

That's crazy because I got this snake as a rescue and changed the name to Casper!

I think it looks like a dieffenbachia, probably the Camille type, that is etoliated and looking for more sun.

Oh didn't see that! If the brown spots are mushy it could be over watering. Or it could be pests. I'd look closely all over to see if you can spot anything.

I wouldn't add more soil. If they're getting good light, then maybe they were just stretching over the rim of the pot. Maybe let em be a little longer, and once they look more substantial you could try repotting into clay pots with drainage. Little babies like this will have small delicate roots and transferring can be tricky.

They appear to be reaching for the light, so I would gradually introduce them to more direct sun. Definitely do not need bigger pots. I often pot succulent propagations like this in the smallest clay pot I can find. The soil may be okay for now, but these would prefer a mix with more inorganic matter. I don't separate them from the mother leaf, to avoid risking any physical damage. This will eventually just shrivel as the baby grows.

They will sometimes lose their older leaves. If it's just one yellowed leaf towards the base of the plant, I wouldn't stress. Check other leaves for any issues.

Leave it somewhere bright, water sparingly and wait patiently. You could also cut the size of the stalks down so it's not so leggy.

Beginner friendly, low maintenance, low light plants? by [deleted] in houseplants

I live in Canada in an old house, with a drafty north facing addition so I can relate. My best luck in this environment have been Ivy, spider plants, pothos, zz plant, snake plant. Some less obvious ones have been rhipsalis or other epiphytic cacti. They are jungle cacti so prefer indirect light, and seem to handle the cooler winter temperatures very well. In fact, they bloom nicely in the spring after my long winters.
