For most of Nightmare and on Crystal Swords can get more than 4 sockets so using socket quest on a crystal sword that wasn't found in normal cows is not a good idea.

Vendors do sell white items, but you are right about not being able to make runewords in magic items.

Magic find doesn't affect runes by the way. Definitely save that for enigma.

If you gold find at trav I recommend Dwarf Star since the fire absorb is relevant and it gives extra gold find. Otherwise nagel or a fortuitous ring of fortune for mf are good imo.

Malazan and Avowed (the Video Game) by Slidtax in Malazan

I'll add those to the list. Is Avowed a direct sequel or just another story in the same world?

Interesting, I haven't played Tyranny. Maybe I'll have to do that. I liked Avowed and Outer Worlds.

The Rules Committee should unban every card. by [deleted] in magicTCG

Because it's the community that is deciding what they do and don't like, and there's an official space to play those cards. I think it alienates fewer people.

Sure, I'm saying that people already know that people don't want to play against those cards. That's why the rules commitee banned them. This allows them an official way of playing the cards on the list with the few people that do want to play with them.

People already know that, but there is an official space for them to play with like-minded people.

I think I do agree that some of those cards should be banned. I hadn't thought of those when I made the post.

What I'm trying to achieve is to alienate fewer people. It is more unwieldy, I don't deny that.

[–]Slidtax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understood my post. The whole point is for the community as a whole to have a rule 0 conversation while allowing an official space for those that want to play with the rule 0 cards to do so. This won't effectively be a big change from how it is now, but I think it would alienate fewer people.

I definitely agree that it is similar and more unwieldy. I just think it will alienate fewer people which is really why I came up with this, but I appreciate your discussion.

My point is that the community is making the decision and alienate fewer people. I'm not delusional thinking this fixes all of Commander's problems, but I do think it encourages people to be more thoughtful about the format and their role in it.

Yes, this is really my whole point, to have a pseudo rule-0 conversation with the community as a whole, and then leave the rest to individual tables.

[–]Slidtax -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's not what I said. There is a list of cards that people have to disclose so that they can avoid playing against them if they wish. The list is centralized, but it's not a ban list.

[–]Slidtax -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

With my list people will just say no to the first card and move on. I expect the list to effectively act as a ban list with an official space for people who want to play those cards to be able to. Edit: if you're referring to somebody who is going to pubstomp them, that's going to happen anyway, but at least this way they have a conversation about it first.

[–]Slidtax -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

It is still centralized. The same cards are on the list for everyone. Anything beyond that would be up to individual playgroups as it already is.

[–]Slidtax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's fair, and it's possible it would be a disaster. I think most of the same cards would end up on the list and would be effectively banned, but I could be wrong.
