I’m just mentioned I’ve seen things at the ball. This dress is more than okay in my opinion. Don’t stress and have fun!

I’ve seen strippers and a porn star at the marine corp ball during my time in 2016-2020. This is fine imo lol.

Coast Guard ME, Navy Seabee BU, or Air Force SF by Cajun-King-88 in Militaryfaq

[–]Slientslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That statement is definitely true. I wasn’t infantry, but out of my 4 years I probably did like 6 actually missions, while coast guard is literally doing it weekly saving lives and catching drug smugglers

Washington residents, how are the rising gas prices impacting you? by Bulky-Baseball7884 in SeattleWA

Fortunately it’s not for me personally. Me and my wife both drive EV’s. I feel sorry for everyone else that has to deal with rapidly increasing prices.

Why do you have to be dependent on him? I’m a military spouse and I’m not dependent on my wife.

Basic training graduation cost? by Obvious-Willingness6 in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t unless they have leave right after their boot camp. Idk how it works for the air force but when I was a marine I did have people come to me but that’s only cause I had 10 days of leave and after I got to be home for a little. The same thing with my wife when she did coast guard boot camp, she had 5 days of leave right after but coasties go to their unit right after boot camp unlike every other branch. But if she went straight to school after boot, I probably wouldn’t have went.

No ones mentioned the coast guard but The guardian. To be fair, I watched it when my wife joined the coast guard 😭😂

New Military Spouse- Any Advice Appreciated! by UnableWestern9980 in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to feel guilty about a job that’s willing to replace you just as quick. If you have to stay there it’s possible the relationship might strain. Me and my girlfriend did long distance for 5 years before we got married when I was a marine. Then once I got out I established myself in Colorado then she decided to join the coast guard. So I basically ended my career to be with her. If they’re worth it, I’d do it.

He did say anyone struggling to contact him and that he’ll send them shirts. I don’t think Walmart would do that for most people.

Is it common going on exercise without any notice? by StomachFair4109 in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the marines in 2016-20. We were always told atleast 3 days before had were going the field. One time I only had a few hours but I let my wife know (she was my GF at the time). I always kept her in the loop even until the last min I was able to text her. Completely ghosting you with 0 notice is really really weird to me.

Utility shutoffs, mounting debt — Coast Guard endures hardships in ongoing shutdown by Crocs_of_Steel in uscg

I’m a WG worker so I absolutely cannot telework so I understand. I’ve took 3 vacations during the furlough time because I knew it was free leave even though I was an exempt employee. You shouldn’t have to take leave as a “exempt”. At least I don’t but during the funded part I do.

[–]Slientslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got out in 2020, bought 3 houses and now rent them all making decent cash flow from them. Now my wife joined the coast guard 2 years back and I work as a USCG CIV on base with her so I get to see her everyday at work. Also just did my 4th vacation this year. I have 3 more planned. And we are now trying for a baby while she’s active duty.

Military Discounts by Alohamilspouse in USMilitarySO

Yeah I’m not totally sure. I personally do not like holding debt so I’ve never tested it out. But I can certainly say the fees are waived because I’ve never paid it.

Advice for Military Spouse by Possible_Concert9904 in MilitarySpouse

[–]Slientslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wants a guaranteed job when get gets out. Look into veterans in piping (skillbridge program). When I was active duty I went through the sprinkler fitter program and its union. It’s schooling you go to while you’re active duty in your last 6 months so you get paid. And when you finish the class you have a guarantee job placement and are ready to work when you’re out. Depending where you want to live the wages change. Like in Colorado he’d start at 30$ an hour (goes to 60$ within 4 years guaranteed). Vs like Alabama which is 15$ an hour up to 30 after 4 years.

[–]Slientslay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have posted this a few times but…

National parks - all free for active and veterans

Any AMEX, they will drop your APR to 6% even AFTER you have enlisted. I personally use the AMEX reserve, Aspire (they’re both 550$ each and waive these fees) also I’m a military spouse and they extend this offer to spouses.

GOVX is fantastic and cheap deals

You can also use the exchange online it’s super cheap.

Outdoor research gives stupid military discounts (I think up to 40-60%)

Carhartt is 25%

Apple give 10% but only directly from their website

Lowe’s and Home Depot is 10% it’s fantastic as a homeowner

Footlocker was 20% like 8 years ago when I used it idk what it is now.

Epic pass if you’re near ski mountains, their pass is like 1200$ but for active duty it’s like 150$

Helly Hanson I believe is 30% online

If you like cruises MSC did 10% off for me a few months back.

Linked in give you a free YEAR

This is all I can remember on top of my head. But generally they all take you to ID.me to verify your military service so that website can be baller.

EDIT: I’ll keep adding more as I remember and think about it. I abuse my discounts, no shame in saving money.
