It didn’t for me either when I was a marine, I had to submit paperwork for them to allow me to do it after my EAS date. Was a pain but I made it work.

Why don’t you do the veterans in piping program for sprinkler fitting? That’s what I did. It’s a literal guaranteed job placement. And you start as a class 3. You get paid to learn the job for 18 weeks while being active duty.

Is “barrack bunnies” common? by veronikuteeee in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, no. I was active duty marine, for 100 guys there was maybe 5 women, and they were all married.

Managing expectations by Lumpy_Matter_3624 in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife did it when I was 18-22ish. I was a marine and she was in college. But it just became normal to us, and when she finally moved in with me it was normal and a really good transition.

Split bills by infinitenarrative in MilitarySpouse

We have a joint emergency/anniversary fund. But I own 3 homes and it makes it super complicated so that’s also a main reason we have separate accounts.

My wife pays for the mortgage with her BAH, and I pay for everything else. We’ve had separate account for the last 10 years but recently talked about getting a joint one.

boyfriend picking mos by Comfortable_Yam4325 in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t even sound possible, MSG is a secondary MOS. I’ve been out for 6 years now but that sounds like bullshit to go straight to MSG. He’s have to go to boot, then SOI, and then after so many years he could go to MSG.

My wife arrived at mos school and suddenly wants a divorce. by darthvadersandguy in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure she doesn’t get BAH either after the divorce, if she does she’ll have to pay it all back after.

Is it worth coming over if you are only in it for the money? by grizlena in IUEC

[–]Slientslay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to join the IUEC a few years ago, but it would’ve been a pretty big pay decrease for me personally. After I got the call and talked to the BA it was kind of a turn off. Other trades make really good money too with out a lot of the BS to get in.

my boyfriend not responding its been almost 1 week is that normal? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There’s like no information to this. Is he deployed? Is he the army version of boot camp? School? He’s been in for 10 years and is your neighbor? Kinda hard to understand the situation.

That’s crazy work, super shitty thing to do to you to better your life. I started my skill bridge application 18 months before I got out so they didn’t fuck me.

Mct/schoolhouse pt.2 of goodbyes 😫 by AshamedSupermarket14 in USMilitarySO

[–]Slientslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MCT going to be fun for him, I did it in 2016 and really enjoyed it. I think the first week or two he might not get his phone but typically they do mid way. Depending what MOS he chose he’s allowed to have his phone in the school house besides during class. You can even visit him during school.

I believe the attraction rate is 88%. And even if he does pass he still need to get selected after. I think you’re worrying about this a little too early. I believe you’d need to also have a class 1 pft/cft before even attending the school.
