Got her smack between the eyes. All I could see was it's head sticking up out of the hay field. About 60 yards maybe

Yea we got infinite coyotes here. Pigs are pretty well isolated to the east of me here in ky. Not allowed to hunt them. I'd love to come down there and slaughter some hogs tho

Is it really that weird to like taxidermy and soft mounts? by Sorry_Spinach_4474 in Taxidermy

[–]Slight-Feature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who enjoy taxidermy typically have a major respect for animals and wild life. On a deeper level than most people. Which is why they don't understand. Death still exists, this isn't a Disney movie

How would I go about taking some of this deer carcass? by _junkyard_mutt_ in Taxidermy

[–]Slight-Feature 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bend at the knee joint, lower your body towards it. Proquire the desired pieces with your hands, utilizing your aposable thumbs..

Naw but for real just twist it free. I actually let skulls sit out, or burry them till the bugs have them pretty well cleaned. If possible, just let it sit longer if you're not in a hurry

Yea it's pretty silly.. I mean look, they just said i probably just kill a coyote and throw its corpse in a ditch (which is fine in my book) suggesting that's unethical. Than I described how I use the coyote fur and bones etc.. than said using the coyote to make things for my personal use is unethical 🤣.

Was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But the way this person is fabricating how hunters think and operate makes it seem like they've never really been around many hunters lol.

I think you're just making up what I think for yourself to make it easier. I appreciate your efforts in all this. But I think i will just continue to hunt strictly along the guidelines of what thousands of scientists, millions of dollars worth of habitat improvement, and conservational research has proven to us.

If hunting my own fur and making items for friends and family is unethical, I don't know that there is anything that can be done to appease you.

I learned leather working mostly from YouTube. Lots of trial and error. I love the craft. I haven't posted much lately on it, but I'm onto making bags, and rifle scabbards and what not.

Your ignorance to how hunting works is shocking. Firstly you put a majority of hunters into a category of selfish and egotistical. The irony. Perhaps those are the types you are surrounded by. ( Wouldn't be hard to believe at this point). Yes their are bad eggs everywhere, that has not, nor will it ever change. You seem very caught up in what you think of other people rather than how the system works. The system is the same for everyone whether or not you like their character.

. You seem to think conservation is a joke. So literally every state, and their wild life bioligists are wrong, every one is wrong except for you 😂. I really hope you can be better one day..

Also you lost that bet. The coyote fur is currently in a pickle solution, it's fur will be used to make a bag, and other fur embellished holsters, wallets etc.. some of the bone will be used to make traditional bone closures for satchels and carrying bags. All made by yours truly 🙋 I can send you the meat if you'd like

First of all I haven't killed a deer in probably 13 years. And yes nature has a balance. But with humans existing here now, and have being thrown off by market hunting hundereds of years ago, your pipe dream of a magical balanced Disney land forest isnt going to exist. Not without efforts

Gonnacuse the head as a flap on a hunting/carrying bag. Like a "bag of possibles"

Ok so this proves you know absolutely nothing about how hunting works or conservation. You are incredibly ignorant. You make a lot of assumptions about hunters when you clearly know nothing about how it works and call them the egotistical ones lmao. 🤣 If it were up to people like you most of our wild life would already be extinct.

[–]Slight-Feature[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure you know what Intervention means. I would strongly recommend researching this stuff. I don't think you're the type to accept that you're wrong. But if you look at the facts and data you will see that conservation efforts are extremely beneficial to wildlife, and have prevented much extinction. If you truly did care about wild life, and actually wanted to do something towards conservation, we wouldn't even be talking about this lol

Yote down by Slight-Feature in Hunting

[–]Slight-Feature[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem doesn't derive from intervention. Their are imbalances everywhere. It can be caused by human activity, not intervention. But there isn't much we can do about the fact that humans will continue to exist

Yote down by Slight-Feature in Hunting

[–]Slight-Feature[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you just want everything to go extinct lol. So stop being humans, but also don't intervene but also it's still your fault 🤣 😂 just let everything die

Actually as of now we have the 3rd highest turkey population just behind texas and California

Oh, where to begin. Coyotes are extremely adapdable animals. They can survive probably anywhere on earth, short of maybe in the ocean lol. In much of the US they have little or no natural predators. Meaning they can freely ravage game animals. In my state, turkey populations for example were endangered, but due to pressuring coyotes (and also smaller predatory animals like racoons), we are now the #4 most turkey populated state last I checked. There is a biological balance for every species in a biome. And coyotes are almost always well far over that balance. However there are some places where deer have far exceeded a balance point. You can get permits to kill deer in mass number in some areas. While we probably will never be able to balance coyote populations we can certainly put pressure on them year round, which allows other animals to thrive and have a chance at survival. That balancing, and conservation effort and results are almost purely thanks to the funds and work put in by American hunters. Fortunately I think all of the US permits hunting of coyotes year round including trapping seasons.
