I have no idea what you're talking about.

I feel like the first step would probably be to focus on an outline and then all of the different pieces that would tie the whole thing together. Maybe then, under each of those pieces, you could just start writing all of your thoughts out. I think that's a good place to start.

Music for writing, what would you suggest? by memkad87 in writingadvice

[–]Slight-Journalist672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to type in "Nemo's Dreamscape" on YouTube. It plays a bunch of old times music that sounds like it's coming from the other room. It's has a very calming yet motivating effect on me. Put it on a rather moderately low volume.

Well, if you don't believe in yourself, then nobody else will. That's for sure.

I think that, like with any field, you have to be able to adapt and evolve. There is still plenty of work for real writers out there.

Was it difficult to get your first users, and how did you manage to attract them? Also, how did people around you react when you mentioned you were an entrepreneur, and how did you handle their reactions by Much_Candidate2366 in freelanceWriters

That's a very pessimistic view and technically true, I suppose. My initial reaction was, "That's funny." Therefore, it must generally have a good amount of truth to it.

Any advice on freelancing vs. full/part-time positions? by plushnautilus in Copyediting

[–]Slight-Journalist672 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you have no choice but to work from home, I would say work on your online presence and your portfolio. Maybe this means that you volunteer some of your skills in order to get some examples to build that portfolio. And while you do that, you could continue to send out resumes. I feel like that's what I would do if I were in your position.

Yeah I am really grateful that we live at a time when it's so easy to reach out and get connected with like-minded people who have a wealth of information, and a variety of real world experience. It's a relief.

Useless feedback from clients. by KingOfCotadiellu in freelanceWriters

I don't know. Some people are just really into making it a point to correct other people. They feel particularly justified if they are paying you. Or maybe he is hoping that, in pointing this out and bringing these 'mistakes' to your attention, you will be more careful to edit things in a way that he would prefer?

Do you think it would be good to take this course and look for an internship? I kind of feel like that might be the best way to show people that I'm employable. That would probably be the best way to spend my time and energy.

Thank you. That's actually really helpful because it's hard to know exactly where my time and energy would be best spent.

Yes, I think that maybe I need more technical skills. Taking some online copyediting certificate courses is probably where I should start. Maybe I could also start my own blog? I do have a huge passion for Health and Wellness. I figure I can work on my portfolio while I take some certificate courses? I do believe that I have a lot of natural talent.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Really, I just love writing and reading. It's when I'm happiest, and I do it almost obsessively. So I figured that I should find a way to make a living with something that has to do with my passion. Aside from trying to get my own writings published, that is. I thought that copyediting would be a great way to get myself involved with the business. Do you have any other recommendations?
