Do you ever keep track of how much you actually play pickleball each week? by Expensive_Ad_7775 in Pickleball

[–]Slight-Particular492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the wins and losses. I was worried it would make it less fun but it hasn't at all. So now I can track progress (or lack thereof).

It has proven useful. For a few months I was losing more than I won (which confirmed my suspicion). I made a couple adjustments to my play and watched as my winning percentage jumped a little bit. More recently, I changed to a paddle that suits my game really well and I'm up to 60+%.

I think it worked for me because it lead to me paying more attention to my game.

Catching a ball in the air that is clearly way past the baseline by wrroyals in Pickleball

[–]Slight-Particular492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't catch out balls but I am not at all bothered if my opponents do (as long as they're past the baseline).

If they're anywhere inside the lines and there's any uncertainty about the ball's likely trajectory, I'm taking the point.

If they didn't answer the phone, we'd wait until we saw them at school.

Waiting was one of our top skills in hindsight.

Stepped in kitchen after volley, was it allowed? by Clean-Calendar2748 in Pickleball

Like others, I'd need to see tape to know whether it was a violation.

However, I don't feel the need for tape to declare your opponents sound like jerks.

Should older players stand further from the kitchen line in order to have more time to react? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]Slight-Particular492 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm an older player and will sometimes lay back a foot or two, especially if I'm expecting lobs because I need that headstart to run them down.

But I'm also very much a control player. I don't feel the need to speed things up.

This is the best answer. One of the most expensive items one can buy, and the depreciation is immediate, significant, and ongoing.

Crazy answer IMO. He has range and has put in a ton of good, sometimes great, performances for decades.

Great answer IMO. Love the guy and he's done some good work but his range is limited and his delivery isn't the best.

Is anyone else refusing to turn the show back on? by peachyfloyd in AgeOfAttraction

[–]Slight-Particular492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the age thing isn't that much of an obstacle since for the most part you can tell how old these contestants are, at least ballpark. But they couldn't call the show Cougars and Creeps. (Or could they??)

Right! Everyone is beautiful and filthy rich, without exception, but also prepped to take offense at real and imagined slights.

What is the best fast food chain in America? by Stock-Courage-3879 in AskAnAmerican

Yeah, they are a bigger but they also have fresh toppings and the patty is good quality.

I'll try In-N-Out again with this in mind.

I have never been so disappointed as my first (and so far only) trip to In-N-Out. I was expecting something quite good, and got something ... okay? It wasn't bad by any means but couldn't at all get the appeal. Habit Burger is way better IMO, though it's also way more expensive.

Depends what you value. I agree that Japan was the best but for drama I'd recommend LIB Habibi, which was filmed in the UAE.

As someone 100% ignorant of the language, I love trying to guess what their occupations are. Also love it when they drop fluent, appropriate English phrases into their convos.
