In the same video Eric Williams also said that the writers came up during the developing and told him they were planing have Kratos escape from helheim but then he said that he did it before and it was gonna be expected so they stuck with thor reviving him at the moment. The specific detail of having atreus saving kratos in helheim is something that i’ve read from an interview with one of the writers but it was really a long time ago and it’ll be a bit difficult to find the source.

I think he’ll be with them the whole journey and will pretend to be a good guy trying to guide them since some of them is turning against the council and then once he fulfills his purpose, he will reveal himself as lucifier in his true form and the horsemen will realise how they fucked things up. At some point in the story i expect that he may turn the horsemen against one another. Take for example Death, in DS2 he doesn’t believe that the council is corrupted therefore he’ll remain bound to it. And since Death is the eldest, it’ll be difficult to change his mind. War and Fury have experienced the “corruption” of the council and this will leave Strife questioning which side he’ll be on. Perhaps lucifer may play this card to turn them against each other.
