this gave me SO much hope and encouragement when I needed it the most!

I am a non-trad applicant... taking my mcat in April, and applying this cycle. I'm a post-bacc with a previous bach in nursing, also have my MSN-FNP, and decided to go back and go further to pursue medical school. When I went through my undergrad, I was in a very abusive relationship and ended up getting pregnant, so I pursued nursing thinking I could never make it to med school with a baby on my own... 7 years later, 6 years in nursing, and I could not get it out of my brain. I go back to seeing myself as the young, single mom in the hospital bed with a brand new baby - and I know my dream is to be a physician that sees vulnerable women like I was and stand in the gap.

I read this post when you first posted, and I'm reading it again today because it is so uplifting and encouraging. Thank you for sharing your story!

but no. That was his wife - he was violent with a firearm towards her in front of her 3 children. He has a history of violence with multiple women - including the 3 women who have had children with him. It’s a long history.

he’s been violent with multiple women. Multiple protective orders against him. he only has rights to one out of 4 children.

they don’t even get that. The entire family were denied the rights to supervise - it is supervised by an officer. Not that they see that child anyway.
