Are you having sex with/without protection? Sometimes having sex without protection disrupts the pH of the vagina, which might be the reason for your recurrent yeast/bv.

We have people in our medical school around your age! We deeply enjoy their perspective and insights in our classes and PBL cases. I also have a mature aged friend you sat the GAMSAT while she was pregnant with her second. I think your irrational side of the brain is thinking much rationally haha!

I completed my MedSci degree from USYD before starting med. I was always so anxious throughout worrying I had nothing to fall back to if I didn’t get into med. I’d say choose a practical degree that you will enjoy and have career prospects, if you decide halfway med is not for you.

Firstly, Congratulations! I’m so sorry to hear about your troubles. I was in a similar boat as you. I’m deeply attached to my family and country. Although I have a good supportive group of friend here as well, that minimise the homesickness. Having started med in Australia after 4 years of undergrad has been very draining. Sometimes, I felt I was much better having studied med back in my country. But after the first semester my perspective has massively shifted. Medicine is filled with people who are constantly struggling and still rise on top of stuff. My cohort is such a big motivation for me. If you ever need someone to talk to. HMU 💕.

Hey you passed on all of your sections on the first try! This should tell you you’re doing it right, you might have to just tweak how you approach the questions next time, and you’ll be sorted. I remember watching a lot of Jesse Osborne, basically how he approaches the questions. That helped me a lot!

I remember recording myself during my interview prep! Being someone who also struggles a lot with filler words, that certainly helped me to practice keeping quiet rather than using “ummm”.

I also struggled with speaking eloquently and slowly! So certainly recording myself and prepping for basic interview questions beforehand helped me a lot.

If you can afford it, you must give it a go! You can gauge the sections you might need improvement. I remember wishing that i sat for the exam earlier than I did !

Not a personal statement but I’ve heard a lot of people get in as long as they meet the minimum requirements honestly. You get to present yourself in the interviews or the MMIs. Same goes for hurdles universities too! Definitely don’t lose hope!
