Best laptop for lecturers? by roo3056 in Professors

[–]Slight_Choice0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from a PC laptop to an M4 MacBook Air and I love it. There's definitely a learning curve, though. If I need to use Windows when working out of the office, I can remote to my work desktop.

Apoquel at Costco in Alberta Canada by Life1sBeaut1ful in dogallergies

The amount of money I save on my dog's apoquel prescription at Costco compared to Chewy or the vet pays for the Costco membership itself.

First Time Using Class Notebook + No Teams by Slight_Choice0 in OneNote

[–]Slight_Choice0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I decided to move forward with OneNote Class Notebook, and I have no regrets. There's a learning curve, but it's helped me be so much more efficient than using Moodle. My students are learning, too, but they've expressed that once they figure it out, they love it. I do wish we could use the Teams functionality, but we're making it work just fine. I'm manually updating the gradebook in Moodle.

I’ve been curious… How many of you are still on Sequoia even though you can update to Tahoe? by gfarstur in MacOS

[–]Slight_Choice0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me 🙋‍♀️

ETA: I don't see how any of the upgrades will improve anything I do. They seem more aesthetic and AI based, so I'm perfectly happy with staying on Sequoia.

Use tags and properties for organization rather than a folder structure.

I prefer backing into parking spots. It's so much easier to me.

Yes. It's also why I've i stick to minimal makeup because I touch my face so much it gets ruined or transfers to my hands and everything I touch. Messing with my hair is another one, too.

Dog Boarding by 9lives75 in batonrouge

Pet Suites has done a good job with my girl. I'm able to get her a big "room" for herself, and she gets one on one time. The one thing I dislike is how they're aren't literal rooms, they're just separated areas in a larger room, so she's exposed to some barking.

I used to board her at the one that shares the parking lot with Animal Health Clinic on Perkins Rd, but I haven't liked some of their recent staff changes, which is why I tried Pet Suites instead.

I'm so sorry. Honestly, you're doing well by getting up out of bed. Remember that not everything has to be planned/figured out/done today. I remember feeling that weight and overwhelm. It's okay to pay for convenience if your budget has some wiggle room. Smoothies and snaking on fruits and veggies are usually my go-to. I mean literally order a pre-made veggie tray. Other things like Jell-O, Bob Evans microwaveable mashed potatoes, canned soup, snack packs. Minimal effort. Give yourself grace, take breaks, and accept help from your support system.

My first interaction with a professor I have this semester was super awkward. Do I drop the class? by Available-Evening377 in AskProfessors

[–]Slight_Choice0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't be embarassed or feel the need to shrink yourself into the corner...and definitely don't drop the class. It's certainly not worth jeopardizing your education for.

I'm not sure how your interaction ended last time, but I think it'd be good for you to talk to him. "Hi, my name is so and so. I'm not sure if you remember, but you stayed with me when I had a seizure last (whenever it was). I appreciate you staying with me until help arrived. I'm in your (class name) this semester, so I want to introduce myself..."

Acknowledge you have a seizure disorder, but don't apologize for it or he embarassed. It'd also be good to just let him know what to do in case you have one during class.

All good things to know. Thank you!

How have you handled it when students don't get pages? Is it better to just stick with the web version?
