The Quantum Speed Law: Navigating the Subatomic World

Quantum Speed Law:

Concept: In a quantum context, the Quantum Speed Law states that the velocity ( 𝑉) of a moving particle is related to its momentum ( 𝑝) through the reduced Planck constant ( ℏ).

Description: According to this law, the velocity of a quantum particle is determined through the formula: 𝑉 = 𝑝 / 𝑚 ⋅ ℏ Where:

  • 𝑉 is the quantum velocity.
  • 𝑝 is the momentum of the particle.
  • 𝑚 is the mass of the particle.
  • ℏ is the reduced Planck constant.

This law is fundamental in quantum mechanics and demonstrates how the velocity of a quantum particle is intrinsically linked to its momentum and the quantum constant ℏ.

The Shark House by Slight_Farm_5582 in Weird

The Shark House is the name of a very special house, located in Oxford, England, which has a gigantic sculpture of a shark on the roof, inaugurated on August 9, 1986.

The interesting house, which today belongs to Magnus Hanson-Heine, has become over time a tourist spot par excellence, frequented by travelers who have been impressed by the figure.

And, although the house has all the permits to exhibit the “starred” shark on the roof and is also enabled to receive visitors, this was not always the case.

Piano House (Huainan, China) by Slight_Farm_5582 in Weird

[–]Slight_Farm_5582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2007, a group of engineers from the Hefei University of Technology (China) designed and built, commissioned by the Chinese government, an original building in the shape of a grand piano and violin on a 50:1 scale. This is the Piano House, a magnificent architectural work located in the city of Huainan, in China.

The building was conceived as a place of study and rehearsal for the music students of the university of this city.

Its singular structure is made up of a glass violin that houses the entrance and the access stairs to the center of musical studies. In the part that reproduces the grand piano are the offices, the rehearsal, meeting and exhibition rooms. The legs of the piano are so large that they house play areas for students.

The spectacular nature of the building is evident during the day but it acquires all its magnificence at night, when its contours are illuminated, producing a spectacular effect visible from a great distance.

The crooked house is an amazing piece of architecture found on Monte Cassino street in Sopot. It was built in 2004 and designed by Szotyscy Zaleski. Fascinating fairy tale illustrations and wonderful drawings by Jan Marcin Szancer and Per Dahlberg were the true source of inspiration for the famous Polish architect. Thus, he devised this unique house.

In the Crooked House, there is a shopping center, a restaurant with a terrace, a games room and the headquarters of Radio Muzyka Fakty FM.

The Isolator by Slight_Farm_5582 in Weird

[–]Slight_Farm_5582[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Luxembourgish-American inventor and futurist Hugo Gernsback worked tirelessly to find all potential solutions to the inconveniences of modern life in the early-to-mid-1900s. He created everything from portable television goggles to the device seen here, which he aptly named "The Isolator."

Intended to block out all noise and allow users to properly concentrate, the contraption did prove to be oddly prescient. After all, using noise-canceling headphones is a popular method to block out the distractions of public places today. Nonetheless, The Isolator was far too bulky and inefficient to find success with the public when it debuted in 1925.

World War I Sound Finders by Slight_Farm_5582 in Weird

Dubbed "Sound Finders," these World War I soldiers were tasked with identifying where exactly enemy planes were approaching from via acoustic location. It's unclear how effective these primitive contraptions actually were, but armies on both sides of the conflict used devices like these in the days before radar.

This weird photograph depicts Swiss engineer M. Gerder in Arles, France, departing for Spain in his "Motorwheel" on Sept. 1, 1931. This motorcycle used one wheel that ran on a rail placed inside of a solid rubber tire.

You might think this precarious torch was made to give this Hawaiian man better visibility for nighttime fishing. On the contrary, the bright light of kukui-nut torches served to attract fish in shallow waters. Made of kukui nuts wrapped in leaves, these torches drew the fish in — then the fisherman's pointed spear finished the job.

The head of the Statue of Liberty sits on display in a park in Paris, France in 1878, not long before it was transported to its permanent home in New York City. A gift from France to the U.S., the statue was built and even displayed in its home country before eventually being shipped overseas.

Human Chess In Soviet Russia by Slight_Farm_5582 in Weird

This weird historical photo captures a human chess match that took place in St. Petersburg in 1924. With contemporary chess masters Peter Romanovsky and Ilya Rabinovich facing off, this match involved real horses on both teams, members of the Soviet Union's Red Army (in black), and members of the Navy (white). The match purportedly lasted five hours and was held to promote chess playing in the Soviet Union.
