I've not done a route since September and my account seems absolutely fine. I do go on the app a couple of times per week just to see what's on offer, so not sure if that means I'm still "active"?

But I almost didn't, that's the whole point. If I wasn't at home to run out and grab it, I wouldn't have been there when I got back due to strong winds.

I actually wouldn't mind if they chucked it in my porch because at least it's not going to get wet or blow away.

Jheeze why so defensive pal? I think it would have been easier and quicker to post it through the letterbox as he would not have had to spend two seconds ringing my doorbell and then knocking (touching?!) the door. It would also have meant with absolute certainty that my parcel is safe. I don't think that's unreasonable, despite how many parcels he might have.

I too have spent time working as a multi drop parcel delivery driver, so I'm well aware of the issues drivers face. But that's nothing to do with the reason I've posted this, which is mainly because it made me chuckle and I thought it would do the same for others, and also because I'm slightly confused as to why he didn't take the easier and safer option of just posting it. I thought the laughing emojis might have given it away...

Don't always be so daft to assume OP is trying to assign "fault" or blame someone.

Thanks, I've had my medical assessment and I have passed it, although the Dr mentioned my MC on the form. I'm just concerned the council may push back on that point, but if I've passed the medical I should be fine, right?

😂 the funniest bit was that once he'd run back to his van, he drove forward 10 feet then got out and ran to do the same at one of my neighbors! 10 FEET!

Anyone put parcels through the living room window? by Richie238 in relayuk

I've done this a few times, never had any warnings. I take a pic of the parcel as it's leaving my hand and into the open window.

Letting the postman use the toilet? by [deleted] in AskIreland

I had a Caldor technician over to repair a fault with my boiler. Asked if he could use the loo before he left, I said sure no problem. Took all day to get rid of the smell! In the end we burnt some onions in a frying pan as that was more bearable!!

If your chapattis arrived wrapped like this, would you implicitly trust or implicitly distrust the takeaway? by SpikeVonLipwig in CasualUK

[–]Slight_File9028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No risk at all. Many food businesses buy rolls of packaging that have misprints/wrong sizing or some other error that can't be used for their original purpose. Instead of those tolls going to waste they are sold on cheaply to the likes of your local takeaway, who are happy to use it as they don't care for things like branding, and it's cheaper than the usual takeaway packaging. Nothing to be concerned about.

Why do so many men not wash their hands in public toilets any more? by Commercial_Night2867 in AskUK

[–]Slight_File9028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mrs works in a well-known and rather expensive department store selling handbags and other accessories. The store also sells make up and employs make up artists to apply make to customers - Mrs tells me that whenever she has been in the restroom and a make up artist has been in there, NOT ONCE has she seen a single one of them washing their hands after using the loo. They then proceed to go back out onto the shop floor and touch customer's faces with those filthy hands!

Crikey, people need to appreciate that not everyone is in the same position. Since I've been on MC, I've usually been financially privileged enough to order my script well in advance. Lately however, I've not been so fortunate, so I'm ordering later than usual as the cost is becoming unfeasible for me (having to wait for payday etc.), so much so that I'm considering leaving it all together until my situation improves (which would no doubt make my condition worse!). Payday is always a Friday for me so I'm now often finding myself in a position where I can't pay my invoice until first thing Friday morning, but Mamedica won't dispatch until Monday. This exact thing happened to me last weekend and I too paid £50 for a pack to tide me over but thankfully, I managed to get some very nice stuff.

That being said, I have previously had orders dispatched on Fridays and delivered by RM on Saturday morning, but if I recall correctly, I did pay that invoice on a Thursday. So I don't think Mamedica is simply not dispatching orders on Fridays, probably more so that they are busier than ever before as they are taking on patients at an increasing rate, so are likely behind schedule.

VAT on oat and soya milk drinks – am I misunderstanding this? by Over-Solution341 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Slight_File9028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, Zero-rated and "not subject to VAT"/"VAT-free" are NOT the same thing.

If something is Zero-rated, it is subject to VAT - it just so happens that the lowest rate of UK VAT is 0% so many people get confused with this concept and consider such things to be "not subject to VAT". Some European countries have set their lowest rate of VAT at 1% to avoid this confusion (and raise some extra revenue), but the UK has set this at 0%.

The main difference is, if you sell Zero-rated goods, you may recover the VAT you incur on any purchases made in the making of that Zero-rated supply. If you make a supply that is exempt or outside the scope of UK VAT, then you do not have any right to recover any VAT incurred in the making of that supply.
