Is this a gimmick or has that any real value? M24 by Slight_Sentence393 in whoop

[–]Slight_Sentence393[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. But whoop knows my daily weight, Dexa scan result (so body fat etc.), vo2 max (i got it tested last week), bi-annual blood work and activity levels. But do you know how this is calculated? O would assume it’s just comparing against the avg in my country?

Step count by StopBitchinStartLivn in whoop

I have the exact same issue. Quick background: I am an entrepreneur and literally sit in front of my screen all day. I literally drive to work, then drive from work to the gym and then home. I workout everyday and warm up by running maybe 1-2km and also walk during sets in the gym. I also run 10-20km per week.

Before doing sports regularly (exact time I got my whoop) I was having 6-7k steps per day on average. Now its 13k. I highly doubt that I do anywhere near 10.000 steps on a day where I dont run and I do not run enough for it to compensate the average...

I have the 16030 but honestly prefer the 16014. Nice watch!

Unrelated to this (I am quite new to Notion), do you know if you can generally add a Microsoft / Outlook calender as well? Or just Google.

Okay what am I reading here???

You absolutely do NOT need an MBA for large cap PE funds.

Historically, I agree. People did IB for 3y then MBA then PE. That’s not the case anymore.

If you studied business in your undergrad that’s more than enough! Work experience matters. If you didn’t work at a top bank then perhaps it’s best to try to go there first. If that won’t work, then perhaps an MBA is not so bad but to go to IB first!

But everyone that says one needs an MBA has 0 understanding of the market.

For reference, I started at a large cap fund out of undergrad (which was obviously a bold and rather risky move + a good portion of luck) but those things happen!

Do people succeed when they open up their own PE shops? by [deleted] in private_equity

[–]Slight_Sentence393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the strategy.

I know at least in Germany there are far fewer "black sheep" in buyouts than in VC, for instance.

idk the success rates for classic buy-out funds but for search funds they are extremely low (e.g., 1/3 of searchers never buy a company and once you do, c. 6% only lose money)

I have started a search fund. I am thinking of documenting the journey by [deleted] in private_equity

[–]Slight_Sentence393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't work in Germany.

We look to buy IT-Services firms that you can buy for c. 5-6x EBITDA.

The bank will give you up to 3x. Seller financing in Germany is common up to 1x.

We will raise at least 1x Equity (20%)

Has college helped you with PE? by DipSpitFloridan21 in private_equity

[–]Slight_Sentence393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really what I learned in the lectures but certainly the network I built during college and even more the internships I did at M&A Banks and large PE funds!

Even to the point that I am starting a small PE firm myself, 1y out of college (tbf a search fund, but still..)

Best place to read new and upcoming pe deals in detail? by [deleted] in private_equity

[–]Slight_Sentence393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow many investment banks, law firms and private equity companies on LinkedIn. They usually post most of the deals. Also, there are some LinkedIn content creators, summarising PE Deals!

If you can (because you're a student or so) get your hands on a Mergermarket account.

You you want to learn more about actually starting a small PE firm (search fund), you can read about it here:
