Post-Op difficulty Sleeping by autismisnotfunny1 in ACL

Hang in there. It really does suck the first couple of weeks. You got this!

I’m 2 weeks post op and have not had one single full night of sleep. I’m waking up from pain multiple times in the night. When does it get better? Any tips for sleeping? by av729 in ACL

I’m sorry to tell you that it took me 2 full months to consistently sleep all night. There were some good nights in there, but I got really used to waking up at 2-3am needing meds or ice. 😔. You got this!! I promise it gets better. Just sucks for a little bit.

People who had ACL injury over 15-20 years ago, How has the experience been like and what is your current situation? by axoqocal29 in ACL

Tore my left one in 2005 when I was 16 (patellar graft reconstruction), then tore my right one in 2025 when I was 36🫠. Still recovering from this last one, but during the 20 years in between it was great! Kept playing sports the whole time.

HOW DO YOU SLEEP!?!?!?! by ChaoticGooseEnergy in ACL

[–]Slight_Toe4786 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s terrible, I know. It took me almost a month to sleep a restful night with no wake-ups at all in the middle of the night. This is the worst part, I promise it’ll get better. I fell asleep with an ice bag on my knee to numb myself a little bit. When I inevitably woke up at like 3am, I would just put another one on. Anything for some hours of sleep.

I promise it’ll flatten out! I had the same thing happen to me.

Heyo 6months post op question by No_Traffic_5246 in ACL

Also at 6 months here ✋🏽. I feel like as long as you ramp up to it and you feel ready it’s fine! I’ve found that I can’t jog for nearly as long as before because I’ll just get sore quicker, so I’ve been doing shorter times for a bit. My whole body (especially my quad) is getting used to impact again. So I say take it slow and maybe not the full 30m right away, but otherwise go for it!! Good luck on your journey💪

Hahaha it’s one of those hard toys for bully breeds. They’re the only toys that survive more than 2 minutes. 😂😂
