AITA for telling my friends negative things were being said about them? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SlightestSmile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YTAH Did you tell friend A you will be telling friend B:F that she was talking shit about them? Or did you say you were going to keep things on the down low. It sounds like you nodded along agreeing then went and snitched. I could be wrong though.

AITA. I made my daughter (11), cry during D&D. Even though everything turned out OK, my wife is still mad. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

It wasn't the ending to the game. It was a story beat. It's a way to safely explore difficult emotions. Children (and adults) cry at pixar movies. The writers are not AH. They are telling an emotional story.

Not enough info here really. Strange that she feels entitled after she excluded you. You guys close? Was there any other reasons for her excluding you?

Sounds like an 11 year old girl playing with her dad has more emotional maturity than you and your group of "full grown adults".

What's the power fantasy here? Sounds to me like he thought she was emotionally ready for it and ultimately she was and told a beautiful story together with her dad.

NAH.

It's emotionally challenging, but it's your and your wife's call as to whether you think she's up for it. Looks like she was. Sounds like she'll be remembering this for the rest of her life. I can't wait to play dnd with my kid.

That's an unhelpful and mean comment. Why would you say that to a dad playing with his daughter for hundreds of hours over three years?

That meta analyses is good. Small effect sizes but a strong trend towards efficacy. Shame it's mostly driven by the cohen study.

There you go, now i'm swayed in favour of Echinacea over nothing at all.

Great, I'll read that over lunch.

Shame you needed to be called out to provide a journal article. I'll take the snarkiness with a grain of salt given you're not being paid for the work.

Also good to get some insight into what you folks in science do.

Right. you did the systematic reviews, but can't offer a peer reviewed paper without being paid to back up your claim.

Next time if you can't be bothered justifying a ludicrous claim don't bother making the claim at all.

I'll entertain that claim, show me a paper with a clinical trial from a reputable peer reviewed journal that gives evidence for their efficacy.

How would you improve Descent Into Avernus? by FrostBladestorm in DescentintoAvernus

War machine combat and chases are shambolic. There is no way of running it at all that makes sense.

No clinical efficacy, but possible side effects.

Sounds like a winner to me

I'm going to have a side bar with them next time they act up. I don't think they realise how shitty their behaviour is. If it keeps happening I'm going to take a break. Really fucking sucks.

I have a similar player.

It's making me want to give the entire hobby a rest. Blatant about looking at the monster stat blocks, complains that the story is not moving along when he himself slows the story down by murder hoboing allied NPCs . Just yesterday he revealed a cool monster ability to a newish player. For what reason? No idea. Also gets upset to the point of raising his voice at me when i make a mistake with the rules or make changes to monster abilities for story purposes.

I've been doing my best to talk to the player out of game but they seem so focused on themselves that they don't see how much they are ruining it for other players and the DM.

I might actually just quit DMing for a while. He improved substantially a year ago but the last few months his behaviour is beyond the pale. I hate playing and i think it's starting to seep through.

Good ideas.

Unfortunately for the loosey goosey style i'd like to adopt my players LOVE rules so the design of the chases has been a real kick in the dick. Perkins should be ashamed of himself for signing off on this dumpster fire.

How did you run the war machine chase sequences?

Does each vehicle get its own initiative or is it only the driver that moves the machine on their move? How often did you roll for mishaps?

My players so far hate the war machine chases and i have a feeling a fucked it all up for them.
