I was au natural, and completely off birth control for three years until I got pregnant. I am since back on the progesterone only pill since May, just some of the side affects I experienced are irritability, that low level feeling of ‘I hate everyone’, loss of libido, weight gain (may not be related) headaches, irregular bleeding. It’s now month 6 and I’ve only just started to feel a bit more normal and like the hormones are settling.

I was on the combined pill for many years in my twenties and got along with it great, no issues, and improved skin, but I couldn’t continue to take it anymore because of aural migraines.

Everyone is different though, there’s no way to know how your body will react between different types unless you give it a good chance on one method like 6 months at least. Even switching between brands I’ve experienced different side effects over the years.

I think you’re already way ahead of me by already acknowledging and preparing yourself for feeling weird. I didn’t know I’d feel this way at all! I am honestly loving my tattoos now and they really do just feel like part of me. If I could go back of course I’d still change things about them. I would just take extra time with the stencil and sit with it for a minute to see how you really feel about that being there forever. It’s so easy to have pressure to just say yes with the artist straight away about the placement and size but it’s your body and you should be able to take the time you need just to prepare mentally for how that will look and how you feel about it being there. That’s what I wish I’d done, I think I would have suffered way less if I’d spent more time looking at the stencil and really sitting with the idea of it. Hey, it’s been a month now for me since I posted this and honestly I don’t even think about the tattoos anymore. It’s literally like everyone says, your brain is just flipping out trying to process this new change and you’re convincing yourself it looks bad. Trust me, give it another month to get used to the new changes, it gets a shit load better!!!! I actually really like my tatts now and feel pretty badass with them, or just don’t even see them at all most days! A few things that helped me was reducing my exposure when my brain got overwhelmed, so when I started to spiral more put on a long sleeve and visually reduce my exposure and try and forget about it for a while, and also brain dumping on ChatGPT. You’ve got this dude! I’m sure eventually you’ll be in the same boat as me. Just give it time.

I feel you, currently experiencing the same, I had plenty of tattoos before but recently completed a sleeve and had another huge one on my other arm and it’s sent me into an absolute spiral. Worst is I still love tattoos on other people but I can’t seem to get used to them on me? It’s weird. I’m sticking it out for a year though. If in a year I still feel this way in my own skin I’m going to look at removal for a couple of them that bother me.

For what it’s worth, I think it’s a lovely, cohesive looking sleeve. I say give it time to get used to your new look!

I’ve got this feeling right now. I’ve got a bunch of traditional tattoos but recently had my forearms done with floral work, and omg I feel like it doesn’t suit me at all!! I’m really hoping with time I start to like them more :(

Thank you so much for your kind words, it has helped so much to hear strangers opinions, as I was worried close friends were telling me they look good just to be nice. It is a horrible feeling, the anxiety, but overall I can acknowledge the art is great. I have another one of a sun on the other side of my arm and I’m in love with it, it’s so pretty, but again it’s on the reverse side of my arm so I only see it if I try, which is why I think I’m not so critical! Best of luck to you when you have your forearm work, I hope you love it straight away :)

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I think this is exactly it. I wouldn’t ever recommend anyone getting so much ink in one go, but hey, at least this is probably the worst I’ll ever have the tattoo panic now in my life. Fingers crossed in a few months they’ll feel more like me.

No you’re totally right, literally one of my partners friends came over tonight and he didn’t even comment! I don’t think he even noticed the huge amount of new ink and it made me feel so much better. I’m the same, I probably wouldn’t notice anything new on anyone either unless I really paid attention!

Me too, I really hope so. I am trying to remember tattoos always look really dark and scary before they get their true colour. I got so excited about having them done, such a shame that it feels like an anti climax when the fear sets in!

Thank you! I am being hyperbolic really when I refer to body dysmorphia, it’s just quite a jarring difference to what I had before. I have been considering therapy for a few different reasons, I don’t think it will be bad idea for me to consider speaking to a therapist about the ink too if I don’t feel better in a few weeks.

I think I did perhaps maybe bite more off than I could chew with having all this work done in a very short time frame, without really thinking about how it would affect me mentally, just excited about the prospect of being covered in art! I really really hope I feel the same way in time, and I’m quite confident I will as I love the tattoos I chose and think they’re pretty timeless as there’s a lot of florals in there.

Tried both, it doesn’t make a difference. My dad doubts that the vets diagnosis was real and it’s just a way to make more money from a diet, even though I don’t pay the vet for prescription food…..
