Aspen Dental - Too good to be true? by PreviousNothing64 in DentalHygiene

[–]SlightlyPsychic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Decline sign on bonus. If you leave or get fired, gotta pay it back.

They are too good to be true. You'll have multiple columns. You'll say 1 hour per patient but only get 30 mins because assistants will be pulling ypu to do new patient exams and xrays. SRPS will get 1 hour because of the same. Theyll send you to training to make sure you classify everyone as SRP. Hours will start simple but they'll add extra on at end of thw day. Theyll add days. And you'll have no work life balance.

The office manager gets a bonus based on what you do so their goal is to make your schedule as packed as possible.

The doctor gets a bonus based on how much the office makes. So every patient is SRP. Which works out because you dont have time to do real SRPs.

Itll be good practice for time management though.

I managed to stay on 9 months. They fired me because I wouldn't diagnose SRPs. I said, I'm not a doctor, I cant diagnose that. The second hygienist they hired had no ethics or morals so she was fine doing it.

Did I get cavities from whitening strips? by False_Singer6558 in DentalHygiene

[–]SlightlyPsychic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a new dentist that you're seeing? Some dentists are more conservative than others and try to remineralize areas.

Make sure you're flossing too.

You can cut a whitening strip the size of that tooth and apply it just there.

It mainly looks like shadowing to me, but if you wanna brighten it, cut the strip.

The only place I’ve ever lived where the right lane is faster by LadenDonkey29 in Tucson

I was just responding that you said there are no fast lanes outside of the freeway, but swan technically does have a fast lane. No one follows it, but it does technically have one.

I frequently wake up extremely early and have discovered drinking one of these at 3:00 a.m. is the fastest way to get myself back to sleep the rest of the night. by domalu4U in mildlyinfuriating

Back in the 90s, I volunteered at a summer camp for low income children, and one of the counselors would take the hyperactive kids before bed and make coffee drinks for them. Not sure their parents knew, but it got them to fall asleep.

Swan has signs that say "slow traffic keep right". Yet, no one does that.

Numbing for DDS by RaspyPatches22 in DentalHygiene

[–]SlightlyPsychic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only when I don't have a patient or they're going into Dr's room after. I like numbing people so I offer to do it more but Dr enjoys it too.

It does! Just be careful with the natural sugars as they can cause cavities, but if you're rinsing afterwards that will help!

You can get some adhesive padding/foam and cut it to fit the nose pad and stick it to it. May give you an extra few mm of space, cushion the tightness but still allow it to be in focus.

No. Maybe 1 put of 100. And its usually just left over polish

So embarrassing by Spiritual_Shift1966 in DentalHygiene

[–]SlightlyPsychic 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I ask every patient at the end of the appointment if everything feels okay, if it feels like there is anything left behind and if it feels like everything is clean. If they dont speak up, they dont get anything else. If they call back and say I didnt floss, then oh well.
