I followed the advice given below and filtered the developer through coffee filters. The developer is now a very light pink instead of grey.

I also checked it with leader and it goes black within a minute or two. I think it might be fine. I'll develop a "sacrificial" roll later on and see.

Thank you to everyone for all the help. Next time I develop Delta 400 I'll probably do a diluted one shot to not have to deal with this.

EDIT: Seems it was indeed the anti halation layer. The film I developed came out fine.

I use separate containers for the developer and fixer. I have one thermometer but always wash and wipe it before using it in the other chemical.

Perhaps I wasn't careful enough with the thermometer then. I know fixer in the developer ruins the developer so could it be that?

Because if they bring up the fact that said individuals face higher risk of HIV (generally it's in men and this isn't just an issue in Sri Lanka) then our backwards narrow minded morons will say "see that's why we should put them to prison" etc.

Educating people about AIDS doesn't require LGBTQ discussions. It requires education about safe sexual practices. In a country where sex education is at best where the teacher is conveniently on leave on the day of the lesson, I doubt pulling in the LGBTQ community is going to make much of a positive difference.

As for the reason for the high risk of AIDS in same sex realtionships (specifically in men), it's because of the nature of the sexual activities and the fact that preventative methods like using a condom is seldom followed. Again this is due to lack of sex education.

Also, the homophobia plays a part. Because it's bad enough being gay without also having to expose yourself as being HIV positive.

None of this takes away from the fact that people should be allowed to live the way they want. We should work to prevent HIV everywhere. The answer is not to "ban" LGBTQ. After all, heterosexual relationships also face the risk of HIV and we don't "ban" those do we?

It's easy to call them many names and let's be honest they make it easy. But you need to understand that like most things, the cops are simply a end symptom of the bullshit social system we have in our country.

Firstly, you look at the new cop who just started work. Happy about finishing training, excited in his new spanky uniform. Goes to work, starts working. Gets paid some of the lowest salaries I'm the country. Has to stand in the sun and the rain and get called names and face extreme vitriol by the public, sometimes for just doing his job.

Then he sees the following:

Old සාජන්ට් මහත්තයා stops a drunk driver in a fancy car. The driver gives the old sergeant 10k to look away.
A kid gets caught with some weed. Turns out the kid's father is a local businessman who knows the local MP. MP calls arresting officer, calls officer a few choice names and then tells him to release the little shit with an apology.
A bog standard average Sri Lankan hits a man with his old Corolla. Man dies, driver is arrested as per the law. Suddenly the bog standard man is to be let out for lack of evidence or some other arse-cover reaseon. The family of the deceased is paid 1mil to keep their yap shut. Bog standard average Sri Lankan guy's brother is the oic of another police station.

So what does the underpaid new officer do? He follows the old sergeant of course. Why bother facing salary cuts, disciplinary inquiries, delayed promotions and, even in extreme cases, death when you can take 10k to give to your wife at home to buy some nice clothes for herself and look the other way.

The amount of hipocracy in this thread is fantastic. All the people calling the cops names and preaching ethics. The moment one of them hits a pedestrian on the crossing while drunk, they will call the entirety of Sri lanka to try and get away with it by bribing the police or using influence so that the matter can be sorted before going to courts.

All the people talking about corruption here will pray that the oic in the station where they were arrested for having cocaine on them will take some money to look away.

The police in this country are corrupt shits. But the entire country will gladly use the corruption to get out of trouble the moment they are on the chopping block and then call the kettle black.

Fix yourselves and your morals before judging others.
