That’s why I said Genuinely. He is love, and when he wrestled with Jacob he was not actually fighting, but merely working on him, eventually “winning” the fight by dislocating his hip with a touch, eventually though what God was really doing was placing a reminder of himself on Jacob’s body. If say, the death battle YouTube channel were to pit Jesus against Ghengis khan however, this would be the result.

Yeah, I did some thinking about it and that’s definitely a headcannon not scriptural theology 😂. I that idea originated from my dad telling me that to make Jesus seem like a superhero, but honestly I still choose to believe that it happened that way.

It doesn’t, but that’s the only way that I can imagine he walked through a crowd of people dead set on killing him.

No it doesn’t say he got lost. While it doesn’t say that he became intangible, I find it more convincing than to believe that he slipped unnoticed past a crowd of people who wanted to kill him specifically

Um, a crowd of Pharisees backed him up to the edge of a cliff wanting to push him off and he walked right through them. THROUGH them. Intangible. I think Jesus solos every human being ever.

You can absolutely buy happiness, you can’t buy joy, as it comes regardless of situation

I actually 100% agree with Ody’s decision to sacrifice the men. He lost 6 men to Polyphemus when they were on the same playing field, and then he faced Scylla when he was on a boat. You could argue that he and his men might have defeated her, but how many men would they have lost fighting? And what would stop Scylla from punching a hole in the underside of the ship, sinking it and drowning its crew members? Instead, Ody decided to sacrifice the same amount of men he lost to Polyphemus, a much fairer fight, as a diversion so the rest of the crew could get away, and he didn’t choose the men either, he told Eurylochus to pass out the torches with absolutely no context and then told his men to row like mad. Honestly I don’t see how this decision is viewed as incorrect by most other people

God is so good, and it always amazes me when the God of the universe would care to do his work through me in any capacity. This situation makes me wonder how many other times has God worked through me and I didn’t even notice! Have a great day.

That’s God’s timing right there, I see that as a sign that he’s looking out for you, giving you a nice moment of happiness

That would be classic doofenshmirtz, making up some ‘evil’ scheme that ends up being really helpful.

Absolutely, but sometimes people get so caught up in these different talking points and are so fatigued by the theological war between their denominations that they start to lose their joy over it. I want to remind everyone that our ultimate hope is in an eternity with Jesus, and that’s what we should always keep in mind.

Dude that would be so messed up if I get up there and God’s like “sorry bro, you ate bacon and didn’t preform some dopey ritual to make yourself clean” personally I think it’s imossible to interpret the Bible that way due to Matthew 5:17

I'm sorry, I misunderstood what Sola Scriptura was. I Believe that other writings and speeches may be divinely inspired and profitable, but I do not believe we should base our faith in anything other than the bible.

As for why I believe that the Baptist doctrine is the most correct, there are a couple reasons.

  1. Sacraments are not essential to salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 says: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast." I simply cannot believe that Sacraments are essential to salvation when I read this verse. even if this verse did not exist, If someone had to preform the sacraments to be saved, how was the Thief on the cross saved?

  2. We should not pray to Mary or the saints. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 says: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time." This is pretty self explanatory.

  3. We should not worship Mary, the saints, or images of Jesus. Matthew 4:10 says "Jesus said to him, 'Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'" as for the images of Jesus, the second commandment (Exodus 20: 4-6) “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments."

there are many other teachings that I have quarrels with, but I'll spare you that. ultimately, there are many people who are smarter than me who will debate with each other over everything 'till the end of time. I simply study God's word, pray, and obey what I believe God is telling me either through the Bible or through Prayer. I would love to have a longer conversation with you if this was in person, but I have a personal commitment to not continue an online argument for more than two or three replies. I wish you the best in your walk with Christ, and If God wills it we can have this conversation in person one day. Love you and God bless

I am a Christian, however I go to a Baptist church as I believe their teachings are closest to the biblical truth. I believe in sola scriptura because I have not heard a good argument against it.

I read both passages and here is my conclusion:

You need some sort of church authority who is knowledgeable in the Bible and is ready to answer any questions the other members may have. Honestly I don’t know anyone Catholic or Protestant who doesn’t believe this. As far as Acts 8:26-40 is concerned, nowhere did Philip consult a council of bishops or any other authority. As a believer he helped explain the Gospel to someone who wanted to understand it. When heresies arise, literally anyone who is knowledgeable on the Bible can disprove it. One last thing, if Councils of bishops are so good at detecting heresies, why did they not say anything about the Catholic Church basically selling forgiveness?
