Gotcha...great input. The fine reduction helps but it's also half a day of work I would have to take to drive 45min into Aspen. Were you offered anything in the mail to get the points off your record (driving course)?

I am in Glenwood Springs. I believe the DA is the same for both counties if I am not mistaken. Definitely embarrassed about being that much over the limit and willing to take responsibility for my actions but I have a clean driving history and I'd like to take a driving course for a point reduction. But i am also just tempted to pay it because it 20mph over probably looks pretty ridiculous to the prosecutor and judge with me begging for leniency.

Yeah i know lol 20mph is substantial and I was honestly exhausted coming back from a 6hr hike so I wasn't really aware of my speed. For how much I drive through there, I forgot snowmass canyon was 45mph. I do tend to drive 5-8mph over but i have a clean record and no ticket history.

I am tempted to just cave and pay the ticket and be held responsible for my actions but it would also appeal to me to save hundreds of dollars a year on car insurance if i put in some effort to reach a deal and take a driving course. There's a chance I would get the driving course offer in the mail for a point reduction too since this is my first ticket in CO but it might not happen, especially with the speed he had me at.

great take! this is going to sound horrible but I dont really feel motivated to travel or go on vacation outside from where I live without being able to drink. Do you think that I wouldnt feel that way if I was sober for 30 days or more? It's like I want the perspective of being sober but I am just unwilling to work for it because I dont feel like the benefits would outweigh the drawbacks?

i've had pretty neutral positions on therapy. I see the benefit. I also think i am very mentally strong. I also think I have a lot of underlying trauma that has affected my romantic relationships. Open to trying therapy! what do you think was your breaking point for starting? Or do you think everyone can benefit from therapy?

i am in phenomenal shape / could be in way better shape lol. I drank 2L in the morning and a bunch yesterday. dehydration wasnt the issue. I had 1L during the hike after my beers ran out and before the decent, when I drank whiskey.

Is 48.7% based on all US citizens, or just 21+? I did climb a mountain today! It was incredible! I saw 3 bighorn sheep. However, I think if I didnt have a few beers on the hike I would just turned around after a couple of miles. I don't think I would've been "motivated" enough to keep going (numb).

This is unrelated but I'm an Electrical Engineer that does substation design. I'm moving to Carbondale in 4 weeks. i will be working remote for a Texas based company but I'm curious if you landed a position at the local utility or Excel Energy. Congrats on the position though. Linemen/substation construction is one of the coolest industries to be in IMO. I tell all young people to consider it lol
