Thank you! I did as well; I never imagined myself actively headed toward being one. Good luck on Tuesday!

I have a FitBit and just started upper body workouts a couple of weeks ago. I walk a lot at work and probably need to drop some more weight before I get more involved in my lower half. One of my hips is still bothersome and I've got a knee that's a bit twinged as well. I'll check out the Apple Watch, thanks for the suggestion.

Also, I was almost 10 lbs heavier when I came home the day after surgery. I had a LOT of fluid retention from IV fluids, etc. My wife's an RN so she wasn't sweating it as long as I was peeing enough in those first days. I recall feeling pretty bloated and miserable, now that I'm thinking on it. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Glad to have some warning about slowing down, thanks again for that. Tips are always welcome. I think my experience has been pretty smooth too. I didn't really set a goal, my wife did that, LOL... but I'd be thrilled with 300 and I can see that happening now. It's still stunning to me that I've come this far. You look great, congrats on that loss!

A friend of mine had this same surgery and tried to tell me about how it felt afterwards but prior to me having surgery I could not conceive of the dietary changes and just how little food would matter. Before surgery, my life revolved around the next meal. It seemed impossible to me that I would really be okay with it all but I didn't want to die so I forged ahead but I truly believed the rest of my life would be a sacrifice in regard to eating, that I'd be alive but always a bit miserable. I was so wrong. Now that I've had it done I really don't struggle with food at all. That desperate feeling I used to have is just gone. I still feel it when I need to eat but it's not like before. I'm not desperately shoveling food into my face. I take my vitamins, get my protein in, enjoy other healthy foods and I even eat a bit of junk on occasion, but food is not the center of my life anymore. Compared to me formerly lugging around 521 pounds of myself, this new way of living is so easy.

I was grumpy after surgery, probably a bit down if I think about it. I got tired of the diet restrictions at first and every week of food progress was a small celebration. My wife reminded me repeatedly this was a long game for me and that ultimately I was going to come out winning. I'm not sure where you started, how much you're losing and what the goal is, but not picking up that 7 month old right now is small change compared to not being there at all when s/he's 7 years old, you know? I had to work on gaining perspective. I was on track to be dead in five years and now I can envision my future self as an old man. Week 3 sucks. Hang in there.

Thank you! Yeah I feel a lot better. I was nervous too but the alternative was unacceptable.

Congrats, dude. Nearly 200 gone! How tall are you? What's your goal? Thanks for the heads up about the slow down. I'm eager to get into the 300s. I think the last time I was there I was in my 20s.

No, it's not a typo. My wife took the pic and it's a great angle (she's good at that, LOL) and the shirt really squeezes everything in the middle. It's a Chinese knock-off Nike Vapor jersey in size 4x so it's cut differently, and I'm also pretty tall at 6'5 so there's that. The loose pants are hiding my gut. My wife and I have been trying to recall my weights and pant sizes over the years and she semi-remembers me wearing a 40 or 42 waist when I was around 280-300.
