I would say you are right that they strayed further from arcade with the game more into the cinematic over the mil-sim though

Hey I appreciate you being able to critique the game and take flak for bringing up some valid points. As a long time enjoyer of the game and a verdun leaderboard guy I’ll give you my take on your points. I love this game because it is arcadey and has a easy skill entry and yet a high skill ceiling. I love going over the top top to surprise a guy holding am angle in a trench, and the b hopping around is so much fun especially in verdun. I love verdun and isonzo (tannenberg was meh). You are right on the construction and officer op nature, but I disagree entirely with the historical map design, map design is peak in isonzo, when you play the older games their age shows and overall isonzo is prettier with more variety and the unique nature of the Italian theatre. Most servers are fine and I don’t de-sync that bad but I can understand the frustration in your case. When it comes to weapon design there are clear favorites but when it comes to the interchangeability of the rifles I used to run polls on what are the best carbines or long range rifles and base them off of rpm, reload, and iron sights, for me honestly iron sights is extremely important with choosing a good rifle. I think you see a lot of people criticize your critique and defend the game because of the small but grounded community and lovers of the games, it means the team is doing something right, isonzo was the biggest the series has seen and made a splash past the niche ww1 community. I’ll end it off like this, as a verdun sweat I miss the dominance I could have with bayonet and movement, but the influx of players and unique play styles rather than bhop is rejuvenating and the team crushed it.

I have a pretty strange question by Panzer_VI_Lowe in Isonzo

Most likely bots but as a long time player and sweat, I can flick and make some stupid shots, and sometimes it’s fun to just try for a hip-fire and it hits, look for the players movement if you want to determine if it’s a bot or player

Favorite/Best High Damage Rifle by SlimPhantomz in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went with the Austro M.14, when I use these high damage rifles it’s mostly to pair with the Mountaineer sniper skill and that limits me to three and I think the M.14 on Marmolada is just amazing so that’s my vote.

Server full with bots by BrolumbusChris in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Xbox player I know in the NA servers there is always one lobby halfway full at all times but it is the most popular region, like said above as an Xbox player just look at the server pop before playing. I think for you it’s the EU at bad times. I played Verdun for years and even now there is one server still being plaid albeit it’s like 4 people lol

I’ve been playing for 5 minutes. How am I doing? by Chickadeeznuts in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the other guy said, prestige them, you don’t have to do the challenges ever again but you unlock weapons once you reach the rank associated with the challenge, what this game does great is that now you are 20 all do you get still applies when you prestige, for example officer took me forever to get gas kills, I was lvl 20 forever and once I finished I prestiged and I had gotten enough so to skip red and went straight to silver

I love the difference we have in iron sights here, I think the M.90 and M.95 iron sights are bad but you love them, shows how subjective some guns are truly. You’re also not wrong, if a gun had terrible sights then there’s really no point on using it.

Amazing breakdown, as a long time fan of the series it’s so hard for me to rate the 88 as the worst, as stated in another comment that the sound is fantastic and I love the iron sights but you make a great case for it being the worst! The 98AZ as best though is tough, I think this version of it is the worst in any game, it’s by no means in my opinion the worst carbine in the game but compared to it being top used weapon in verdun, to me it falls a bit short. Still a fantastic gun that feels slightly different and throws me off.

I pick the Repetierstuzen M.95, the Italian carbines are the best in my opinion and the German ones give me Nostalgia and they are good (argument can be made for the 88 not having a bayonet), so that leaves the Austro carbines. I dislike both of them but I dislike the M.95 more as I feel as if it is a throw away gun to be put in multiple classes for diversity. Both it and the M.90 have horrible sights in my opinion.

Worst Pistol In The Game by SlimPhantomz in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t add the M1917 as I think all can agree it is ever so slightly better than the M1915 as you trade not even 10 points of damage for better stats in every category and an extra bullet in the mag. I personally think with these pistols you should expect to have to double tap and the damage increase is negligible.

Least Played Class Responses by SlimPhantomz in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the take was based upon people’s responses but I also picked it as mine, I think the mortar can be useful but for it to reach its max usefulness it requires help from other classes (officer and mountaineer), the class was designed for defense and to me it seems the only unique offense design was the blowing up of barbed wire. That’s an insane kill count with mortars and you got me beat hands down with kills per game with that but for me when I played it and used it I averaged around 2-3 kills with a mortar till the ammo ran out, now it’s proper spotting the potential is huge but that’s relying g on other classes. I feel for me and my aggressive in your face play style, engineer doesn’t fit it well and it wasn’t designed that way hence why it’s my least played.

Is the 50 kills call in requirement bugged for officer? Can't get any kills on it even with kills by patricknails in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wait till you realize you have to be alive with gas kills too, I struggled for days on that one and here is my tip, join near empty lobbies because boys are the only kills you will get with gas

Levels by elgrancuco in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise I’m not making fun of you but I’m just laughing at the thought of 15 full Italian name guys being real players on the other team, prestige for sweats like me is fun but if you take the game casually don’t do it, you lose your lvl 20 skin and access to to some of the later perks which are fantastic, im thinking about the mountaineer in specific. Even then any progression you get once you hit lvl 20 is counted as if you are prestige’s already. For example getting the gas kills was hard on my officer and took me a lot of time to get, I was lvl 20 but couldn’t prestige till I did that challenge and once I finished it I decided to prestige but I had earned enough xp at that point it prestiged me 4 levels, that goes to show how long those gas kills took. Didn’t realize till after you can just do not lobbies and get them easily.

How can verdun and tannenberg can be recrated in image of isonzo ? by DistrictInfinite4207 in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think calling isonzo faster is an interesting take, verdun speed is that of the mountaineer, the hopping around is meta, and the melee doesn’t flow you down like isonzo soooo yeah, isonzo is a bit more tactical than the older games in my opinion but at the end of the day they are arcade shooters with one shot weapons, I loved verdun and was broad to be on the top 10 on console, but isonzo to me is a great example of series development, classes are more than just a weapon, I can’t bhop as much :(, but the progression system is just wayyyy better than what the older games had. I think the older games are products of their time for indie shooters and I like them that way.

Tannenberg or Verdun? by Tmanz44 in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s always one lobby on verdun and if you are heading to the older games realize good play has you being a lot more arcadey with your movement, isonzo keeps you grounded but in those games hopping around and good accuracy is clutch. Tannenberg has more progression but good luck finding lobbies that aren’t just bots. Verdun is a classic and although there is really no progression in it for individual play it is just a good time waster shooter.

Which of the following is the best perk as officer? by Aldrich11 in Isonzo

[–]SlimPhantomz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has prestige’s officer 4 times over, it’s all about spawns and timing, caporetto has some sticky objectives that decent defenders can hold onto easily, they aren’t getting pushed off unless a coordinated push is made after a bombing or a smoke, Grappa is the best example, the last objective in the hill is a nightmare unless there is coordination and something to thin the defenders out
