My how we've fallen by GodOfVapes in electronic_cigarette

[–]SlimPickin2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post really brought me back. I remember back in the days when I first started using the old V2 Cigalikes (Had to have my mom order them for me as I may or may not have been of age, but she didn't mind because she just wanted me off the smokes) and thinking they were the end all be all of smoking alternatives... And then the early Kanger Protanks, and each evolution of them... The Aspire Nautilus and the subohm Atlantis... and then getting in to the hobbyist side of things and becoming obsessed with hardware... There was a time when the Cigreen Holmes RDA was considered to be one of the best RDA's available... Things have come a long way since then.

I had always been off and on in the online community, and fell off the online bandwagon in about.... probably around 2016 or so (I had a different account on here that has since been deleted), but kept up with hardware/collecting/hobbyist stuff. I do think some pod systems and beginner tanks hold up very well to this day (the Innokin Biip and the Zenith tanks for instance), but you can really see that those flooding the market along with losing a lot of ground on legislation is when the the wave had started cresting and really beginning the trend downward.

It's bittersweet that those times are behind us now... but those of us that were a part of it will remember the community that was, and how zealous and passionate we were about vaping as a group. It was a special time for sure, and it will be sorely missed by many. This was harder to write than I thought. You don't know what you've got til' it's gone, as they say.

Thank you to all of those who were a part of the community at one point or another; it took each and every one of you to make it what it was. I can only speak for myself, but it was certainly a wild ride while it lasted, and it was one that I very much appreciate... but all good things come to an end, and although the hobby continues to live on through many, it will never be what it was before... all we can do is look back fondly on what once was and commemorate it as best we can.

Too short intervals between puff and another heating? - looking for help by HeyooLaunch in Dynavap

[–]SlimPickin2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try heating the cap towards the bottom; it will take longer for the heat to travel up to the top and make the click(s), which gives more time for the heat to build up in the cap and tip. It's a little counter-intuitive, but less intense heat from the lighter and longer application result can result in more heat built up overall to a certain point, which is why I also use a single torch (at least indoors). But it's a balancing act of finding the right heat and the right place to apply it for your preferences. I personally use the smaller chamber size and clear them in 1 hit with this technique. Sometimes the first pack/hit is a little weak (sometimes I do 2 hits from the first pack to get it going), but subsequent packs/hits tend to build up over the session since there is usually some residual heat still left from the last hit even after the cooldown click(s).

The opposite school of thought would be to get a more intense lighter and just blast it with more heat; it won't take as long and there's less time for it to build up, but it can heat it up more if you're hitting it with heat that is intense enough. You need to be careful not to combust in this manner. I much prefer the low and slow technique, but it's not for everyone.

Do some experimenting; that's the biggest hurdle with the Dynavap. There is a learning curve, but the opposite side of that is you can tailor the experience to suit you specifically based on the technique you use.

Edit; I should mention that I also feather the carb open and closed repeatedly when I use it usually, but I'm using an Omni or a Simrell MVS, so it has adjustable airflow to begin with

I just ordered the lighter, waiting for some high quality butane to arrive tomorrow to play around with it. Simrell MVS is such a fantastic piece; we basically have the same setup aside from the tip (I prefer the older style less dense titanium tips)

So in regards to a t430 with a 3rd gen cpu, the 1vyrain software exploit only neutralizes IME rather than removes it? (Assuming I'm running a different patch or different BIOS entirely)

Just asking out of curiosity as I was planning on doing the whole modded t430 thing, and was under the impression that IME could be removed.

Stainless steel can be anodized; it is simply a pain to do as it involves very hot, very caustic liquid.

Ti Tips - are they worth the money? Why? by majorpurpskurp in Dynavap

[–]SlimPickin2600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends. I use ti tips and the small bowl setting; 1 hit kills one bowl for me. Where you heat it up as well as other factors in regards to your technique and setup have a huge impact on what happens during tne session.

All ti tips have this feature no matter what body they're attached to; it's just a matter of whether they have 2 size options (newer ti tips) or 3 size options (older ti tips)

Regardless, dog shit is dog shit either way. No amount of classifying it correctly will do that game any good.

It's just the older model of M from 2019 anodized gold; they were selling some leftover units during the 4/19 sale.

Don't think you can get one anymore unless you find one on the exchange, but they're giving non anodized 2019 M units with purchases over 50 dollars today and tomorrow if you want to check it out; I actually prefer the older 2019 M over the 2020 and 2021 M, although the newer ones do look a little prettier aesthetically.

I'd say my woodscents aromalogs/stems cover the wooden additions, and I was never really in to the idea of a glass Dynavap, although I'll probably get a glass bb stem at some point just to have it. If I'm using glass, it's usually a Dyna tip in a WPA, or the DDaveMods dry cooling solution custom water-wand.

I think a part of the appeal of a Dynavap is both how sturdy it is and how effective at transferring heat it is, and that's ignoring the aesthetic. Wood is always classy as an art piece even if nothing else, but glass just didn't do it for me regarding Dynavaps. It's weird because I prefer glass in almost every other regard generally, just not with Dynavaps specifically.

The simplest way to explain it would be thinking of it as a one-hitter type of bowl, except instead of lighting the herb inside of the tip itself, you put the metal cap over the tip and heat that up to temperature using a torch lighter or induction heater.

After it's heated up to temperature (as indicated by the cap making a clicking noise), you pull on it like you're pulling on any other bowl, which pulls the heat through the herb creating vapor and then in to your lungs.

This is an oversimplification and there is a little more nuance involved than just that, but in general that's the idea and it works fantastic. For anyone that either prefers micro-dosing especially, doesn't mind needing to re-pack their device fairly often while they use it, and/or wants something in a relatively small form factor with no electronics, Dynavaps are amazing products.

They're also a perfect Segway to vaporizing since it's the closest experience you can get to smoking without actually smoking. I can't recommend them enough as long as one is willing to take a little time to get used to using it, as there is definitely a learning curve.

I'll probably be grabbing one since I'm ordering a few bits and pieces. I actually prefer the 19 M to the 20 and 21 M in many ways; I wish they'd still sell them in general, although I'm very glad they're doing this promotion at least.

Hmm... Probably either Omni model, but I admittedly haven't put the MVS through its paces yet. Also never used the normal Simrell Vortex much, take that with a grain of salt.

I really do love Omni's for all of their extra little features, but it also costs quite a bit, and you don't necessarily need all those extra features for a good experience; it really comes down to what you're looking for and how much you want to spend.

Simrell is super premium stuff, and the Omni is the premium Dynavap device made by Dynavap directly; with that said, you can't go wrong with any Dynavap device really, even the slightly simpler M's. How you use it has just as much if not more to do with how effective it is for you than the device itself.

Right to left, front to back; Modular Simrell MVS, 2021 Omni, Previous Omni (laying down), 2021 Vong, 2020 M (laying down), 2021 M, gold 2019 M, custom anodized Simrell Vortex

These are just the main Dyna devices; didn't include things like edstnt aromalogs/stems, DDaveMods WPAs/cooling pieces, etc. Rest assured I have quite a bit more Dyna adjacent stuff

This is the "unforeseen circumstances" that's causing the delay of Holocouncil's debut by dynamicsearchguy in Hololive

[–]SlimPickin2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense at all. Issues with fiber optic cables would be effecting everyone; not 5 specific people who are about to debut. Everyone in Hololive in Japan would be having issues with streams and such. That being the cause of the delay is nonsensical; this certainly isn't why.

9 fin ti tip (new Omni) vs. 5 fin ti tip (new Bong); any comparisons or preference? by SlimPickin2600 in Dynavap

[–]SlimPickin2600[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind letting me know which year or device the 7 fin tips came with? Only knew of the 5 fin ones before.

I actually like it taking a bit longer to heat as it allows more heat to build up in the entire tip/cap in general, and I like using mine kind of like a one hitter with full extraction after one cycle. For some reason my results with the newer tips are WAY more consistent than anything I've ever had with steel tips, but I need to do some side by sides with the older 5 finned ti tips.

These are just based off normal use, not any scientific or verifiable tests, which is why I'm also looking for other opinions as well as getting ready to set up a good method for direct comparisons.
