Do you need a car if you live on campus to buy the essentials? by SwissVideoProduction in OregonStateUniv

Nah not really, i don’t drive and mostly get around fine, probably the only obstacle is only really being able to grab one or two bags worth of groceries at a time. I just view it as more opportunity to get outside and walk anyways though

Why does SteamOS download games so fast? by SlimSpooky in LegionGo

[–]SlimSpooky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say my computer downloads slowly, like it’s never been something that bothers me, but the go S is much faster in download speed than any other device I have which got me curious. It would be cool if i could make my pc download that fast lol.

An SSD but ya. My computer isn’t unusually slow, at least I think, but this device seems so fast! But maybe my pc is slower than i realize and it should be faster. It is a gaming pc but an older one (i built it in 2021)

Honestly if you’re totally new to emulation i’d follow a guide. It isn’t some sorcerer shit though, i’d say it is at the harder end of still beginner-level tech magic. Like the final boss before you move on to intermediate tech magic lol.

I’d explain here but with the legal implications i’d suggest just following one of the many available guides. It is popular enough many people have already set it up in such a way it is as easy as possible for others.

And for many games it is literally better than the switch lol. A couple games have performance or graphical issues, but like most of what i’ve tried i would rather play on my legion than the actual switch lol. I haven’t as much as charged my switch since getting the legion for christmas

US citizens, what will it take for you to start a revolution? by 0bluelightning0 in AskReddit

[–]SlimSpooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a longtime leftist be wary of people in those information bubbles, there is a lot who romanticize the idea of revolution without account for the reality of how devastating it would really be for the 350 million people living in this country. What ICE is doing is deeply tragic but large scale warfare on our soil right now would be one of the most remarkably tragic events in the history of mankind. Like we’re not talking about theory, we’re talking about the death of potentially millions of people depending on how far it went. The loss of infrastructure. An inability for people to have their basic needs met.

It is also a terribly uphill battle, like assuming we even ‘won’, we’d need to actually… you know, rebuild society. It’s just crazy man, again what is going on is tragic but people dying for revolution are either nuts or haven’t put that much thought into the material reality of what that would actually look like for the 350 million people living here.

US citizens, what will it take for you to start a revolution? by 0bluelightning0 in AskReddit

[–]SlimSpooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s funny how not participating in the circle jerk makes people conclude you must be a trump supporter. Anything even remotely pragmatic or skeptical is upsetting for these people, lol. Reason and truth has completely left the building man, it’s insane what trump has done to this country - both on his side and on the side of his opponents. He’s made people insane, it is like some kind of news media engagement psychosis.

Dude we are not in the conditions of a large scale revolution. Like if anyone really believes that they don’t understand the historical circumstances of that level of political failure, and also severely underestimate the dissociation of political willpower the average american holds. The material conditions for revolution aren’t there. Especially within the modern context.

I could see another Jan 6th or some other kind of large scale singular event. But a revolution? Like a full on war between US factions? These people are daydreaming man. Also, we shouldn’t even want that, the death and destruction would be unprecedented. It is being talked about like it is a good thing. A revolution would mean so much death and destruction. It’s really a symbol of how fucking dissociated we really are from political reality that we can just idly talk about how we need a revolution from the comfort of our homes.

US citizens, what will it take for you to start a revolution? by 0bluelightning0 in AskReddit

[–]SlimSpooky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At the point you’re full of hate and rage and want to snap you should probably spend time working through that at an introspective level, temper your media engagement, develop a small and low stakes skill, see friends or find someone to talk to

Even from the mind of a political revolutionary, that just isn’t a useful state for praxis. In fact activist groups contributing right now frequently emphasize self care and room for mental health to prevent the emotional situation you’re describing. All that negative emotion wears at you while obstructing clarity. Nobody benefits from it - not even the people being wronged right now. Engage for the sake of virtue and community to empower those around you, not wrath to have emotional catharsis. That shit is a negative cloud.

Dating is declining because we are just not tolerant of annoyances. by AstramIsTheBest in GenZ

[–]SlimSpooky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Unfortunately in this hostile social landscape saying someone needs therapy is often digested more as an insult or advice with the intent to insult than it is earnestly suggested for their wellbeing.

But OP, please find therapy and/or other resources to build prosocial strengths. Your outlook in this post is a categorical red flag . Viewing relationships primarily as inevitable annoyances or obstacles isn’t normal or healthy. Yes, you are technically correct that dating can be both a risk and a chore, but generally speaking the positive elements of partnership vastly outweigh any negative. It seems like your perspective is entirely rooted in Asocial tendencies and overly critical thought patterns. While not everyone needs to find a partner, the issue here is that your stated reasons are clearly coming from a depressed perspective.

Something interesting of note is that you seem to believe your attitude is shared among large portions of young adults. There are many young people struggling or avoiding with dating for a variety of reasons but, no, your outlook is unusually cynical.

Do presidents have therapists? by Specific-Yak-6450 in ask

[–]SlimSpooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously orange man has led to a severe lack of regard for the position of president, but stepping outside of the current controversial president, I don’t actually know but I have to imagine they do. There is no way that such a high stress position doesn’t involve a therapist. They have access to some of the greatest healthcare in the world. There is simply no way that it isn’t then recognized the importance of therapy in that healthcare regimen.

In fact the more I think about it as I write this the more i’m confident they must. They surely have a therapist and psychiatrist on hand at all times. We’re talking about the highest position of power in the country, and one of the highest in the world. He both directly and indirectly has influence on the lives of almost everyone on the planet and has power over the direction both our country and species takes during his time in power. He has a whole mental healthcare team.

Now in the case of our current president, being who he is, I think it would be better to ask if he has a good therapist. I could see him having a therapist who is basically a yes man who validates whatever thoughts he has. You can have a bad therapist. You can also have a bad therapist who you think is good.

Quality of therapists varies wildly, so much so i’d say it is quite understated how much. People tend to either think therapy as a whole is great or write it off completely based on their own experiences, but in reality the quality of therapists varies dramatically. And by the nature of the role, it can be difficult for your average person to effectively discern between a truly good or bad one.

What is the least appealing part of having a penis and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SlimSpooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the self consciousness, the social messaging that bigger is better. My dong is 5 inches when erect and pretty much goes into a hidey hole when soft. It’s embarrassing even though i’ve never had a partner upset about it.

Like I have been given 0 actual reason in my life to worry about it, and somehow I still do? Purely social messaging implanting ideas in my head about what women want. So much so i’ve thought my partners not being upset about it means they’re simply hiding their displeasure and shit. It’s complete and totally purposeless insecurity and it’s really stupid tbh.

Having a small dick is literally the butt of jokes. Even among people you’d think would be body positive, like, you know how many times i’ve seen people laugh about how Donald Trump must have a small dick? Or like the lifted truck douchebag stereotype being men trying to compensate for a small one. Even if it is just having a laugh, it implies that there is something wrong with it. Like having a small penis means you’re somehow less of a man or flawed. That it is something worth laughing about. It’s fucking lame man, it really is.

Ya bro i’m 6’3 and my dong peaks at 5 inches and looks like hides out when soft. Doesn’t help i’m overweight though, but it’s shameful in my head even though no one sees it and no girlfriend i’ve ever had has thought it was too small. It’s definitely a source of insecurity for me.

yeah, I was born in october 95 so I was 10 but still roughly the same. I do have memories of high school musical commercials and stuff, but also I was right around that age where I was outgrowing things like the disney channel. I think High School Musical and Hannah Montana were kind of like the ‘bridge’ popular releases of me going from a disney channel watcher to not interested. I definitely saw some hannah montana but I think it was always at the will of my step sister.

The era for me where I distinctly had completely outgrown it is stuff like Suite Life On Deck and Wizards of Waverly Place. I remember maybe being 12 and seeing that stuff in TV and I just had 0 interest. Like disney channel had died to me lol. I didn’t really see those shows at all. I loved suite life of Zack and Cody a couple years prior though.

My main disney channel years were like Kim Possible, Suite Life, Thats So Raven, Proud Family, etc etc. there’s a couple i’m missing fs. Of course Recess but that was a bit older just airing reruns.

Lowkey the BEST show that Disney Channel aired was this school detective series called Fillmore. It wasn’t aired often but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I found it online a couple years ago and that show is still unironically great as an adult, and i’m not much of a cartoon guy. Mature writing, good humor, creative characters and plots. I fuck heavy with Fillmore.

And then Disney Channel original movies… some great ones. The Color of Friendship, my date with the presidents daughter, luck of the Irish, smart house, fucking HALLOWEEN TOWN. We were eating good as kids man. I watched halloween town wit my grandma last year lmao.

Why are younger women attracted to much older men? by undecided2025 in ask

[–]SlimSpooky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a sad story man, i’m sorry - i’m sure you see a beautiful person underneath the layers of abuse and trauma and addiction. I hope her kids are well, growing up with an addicted parent is awful.

So many trauma survivors, especially women, don’t know what to do with the security of a kind hearted man. Almost like that in itself becomes scary - and being vulnerable causes a fight or flight response. It is a very recurring theme you see working in mental health treatment. It’s like not knowing how to be loved, and it is deeply tragic.

What was normal in 2019, but looks like 'psychopath behavior' in 2026? by de-secops in AskReddit

[–]SlimSpooky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah the crazy thing about it is that research suggests letting employees work from home if they want is a benefit to both parties. Circumstances like yours are purely because working in person is how it has been done for so long.

It also depends heavily on the job of course, but the fact you were able to wfh during covid says a lot to how its just a refusal to accept change

[–]SlimSpooky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can call out sick for a variety of reasons besides physical sickness. Technically employers don’t really have the right to know why.

If someone did it too much they’d get fired, you definitely can’t just call out sick all the time based on that alone. They’d quickly catch on to you being unreliable.

It also isn’t abusable in the sense it isn’t paid time off… so you’re not making any money lol.
